“Night Warrior: The Reluctant Heroine” by Bluestone

For today I wanna present a new video from Bluestone.

Official storyline:

This is the continuation of the storyline that began in “Teen Bat 5: New Kid In Town”, where Teen Bat was defeated.

Teen Bat has gone missing, so her mentor (in sexy civilian clothes) heads out to track her down, but her search is interrupted by a Collector. He attacks and chloroforms her into unconsciousness. He seems to know that she was the heroine known as Night Warrior, who has since retired from the heroine game undefeated. While she’s unconscious, the Collector dresses her in her Night Warrior costume (off screen) and decides to collect her instead of Teen Bat for his employers. When she awakens, he announces her fate, but she doesn’t accept it, giving him a beating as he tries to subdue the costumed heroine. Night Warrior dominates the fight initially, but the Collector begins to wear her down.

Some images:

And here is the trailer:

(enlarge it to full size with the arrows in the lower right corner)

My opinion on it:

Another fine video from Bluestone! The new heroine does a good job in portraying Teen Bat’s mentor and looks just stunning in her civilian clothes and her heroine outfit.

As usual in these Bluestone videos there is quite a lot of peril waiting for the heroine and some very good action shots can be found in this one as well.

And here are the links to buy this video:

*EDIT* Hint: As you can see on the picture above….The unmasking only appears in the “Extreme version”.

Stargirl – Season 1, episode 6 – The team VS Tigress and Sportsmaster

In the latest episode we finally get long action scenes with some nice perilous moments!

The new hero team gets their first mission and runs into some serious trouble!

And here are the videos:

Well, as I was hoping after the trailer for this episode…..we finally get some great action scenes with Stargirl and co.!

My favorite fights were Wildcat VS Tigress and Stargirl VS Tigress/Sportsmaster.

Wildcat VS Tigress …..that already sounds like a CATfight! And it was very entertaining to see them use their skills to battle each other.

Little fun fact: In some shots you can cleary see some sort of pads(?) on tigress knees. I guess they were there to protect the stuntwoman/actress.

I guess they thought no one might notice….but here it is:

(you can see who weird her right knee locks – click to enlarge)

Another thing about Tigress is her secret identity “cover”. Sportsmaster is perfectly masked, but Tigress has only some face paint around one eye….not really a mask in my opinion.

The heroes should figure out pretty easily who she is. And thereby they might also suspect Sportsmaster to be her husband….

Dr. Mid-Nite isn’t a real fighter (so far), but she helped out in some critical moments and her goggles are very helpful so far.

Hourman still needs to find out how he can use his powers, but all the team members have to learn….and they will during the season.

His “Jason Voorhees” one liner was a nice reference.

Off course I hoped someone would try to unmask one of the heroes, but no luck so far.

The end of the episode gave me quite some hope for the future though as the villains agreed upon finding out who their oponents are.

I am a little afraid that they find in a wrong way…..which would be any way besides an actual (physical) unmasking.

The heroes have a lot to loose when the villains would find out….so I hope they try everything to keep their secret identities.

Overall this was my favorite episode so far! Some great action scenes and the heroes were really challenged! 🙂

Here is the trailer for the next episode:

The masked villainess Snakeskin VS Supah Ninjas!

Thanks to the friendly user who recommended me this one!

In these scenes, we have a masked villainess and her poisonous whip, and of course, she has some evil plans.

But the Supah ninjas are there to stop her! And one of them is actually a woman as well, so we have 2 masked women in this video!

Preview:

And here is the video:

….you are too late, had to remove the file…. sorry.

On the bad side:

The female ninja only has one appearance in costume, that is a shame!

Also, the villainess could be a little…..hotter….if you ask me. In some scenes, the stunt double is very easy to spot….I am not even 100% sure if that is a woman.

Ok, they know who she is under that mask, but damn….why don’t they unmask her? Wouldn’t that be the most normal thing to do after winning the fight?

On the good side:

We have quite some minutes with 2 masked women on screen, not too bad 😉

One self-unmasking is included!

Some nice action scenes!

In my version, the villainess would defeat the 2 male ninjas, would tie them up, and would try to unmask them as finally, the female ninja comes to the rescue.

They wouldn’t know who the villainess is.

The two masked women would battle each other for a while with some attempts to unmask each other.

The villainess would be defeated and unmasked in the end.

*EDIT* ….even the title of the show is in the title of the post….here is the IMDB link with the episode number:

Mad scientist VS Supah Ninjas!

Stargirl – Season 1, episode 5 – Stargirl, Hourman and Dr. Mid-Nite

In the last episode Hourman and Dr. Mid-Nite get introduced.

Preview:

And here is the video (all scenes with masked women from the episode):

[SPOILERS, watch the episode first!]

On the one hand this episode is interesting and important as it introduces Hourman and Dr. Mid-Nite into the show.

The episode takes a lot of time in showing backstory to the characters and that is needed to really “get” the characters.

On the other hand this episode offers only barely 5 minutes of Stargirl in costume and NONE(!) action at all. Like in the last episode Stargirl doesn’t have to fight against anyone.

And that is so far my biggest problem with the show.

In episode 1 Courtney had a short fight with some punks while wearing a bandana to mask herself. A nice scene, but short.

In episode 2 Stargirl fought Brainwave in a really good action scene. So far the best action we got.

In episode 3 Stargirl had a very short fight with Icicle. Nice, but not enough.

In episodes 4 and 5 there was NONE action as she was in costume (in regards of fights against someone).

The show really need to improve on that and I’m sure it will.

Because now all the characters of the hero side have been introduced.

And the trailer for episode 6 shows that they will get into some serious action! 🙂

Looks like the team get into a fight VS some experienced villains.

And the mini trailer already offers more action and peril then the last 3 episodes togetgher 🙂

Looking forward to this one!

Perhaps the villains are curious to peek under the masks of Stargirl and Wildcat…. 😉

The masked female vigilante VS criminal scum – Scenes 3 and 4

And now scenes 3 and 4 from the mystery movie which title I will reveal at the end of this post.

Our masked female vigilante tries to stop an evil guy who abducted 2 little girls!

Will she succeed? And who is actually under that mask?

[SPOILERS ahead, watch the videos first!]
What strange weapon is that? No clue….

Damn, the detective showed up some seconds to early 😉

Would have been great to see her unmasking herself in front of the bad guy.

But at least she gets to unmask herself even if the cop already knew who she was.

In my version: He would have approached the vigilante who is still hurting from the bullets she got into her vest. He would grabbed onto her mask, she would struggle to keep it on, but is too weakened to stop him. And he would be surprised to see her unmasked face as he didn’t thought that this woman would be the vigilante.

Stargirl – Season 1, episode 4 – Stargirl and Wildcat

In this new episode Stargirl starts to recruit Wildcat for the Justice Society.

And there are quite a lot of scenes with both of them, I made 3 videos as they each can’t be too long!

Preview (for all 3 videos):

And here are the videos:

Quite a nice amount of masked women screentime! 😉

[SPOILERS ahead, I recommend to watch the episode first!]

The episode worked well as an introduction episode for Wildcat. We get to know her background story with the incident that lead to the “slut shaming” from which Yolanda still suffers every day.

Her cowl not only hides her identity, it empowers her, the suit suddenly fits and she has all skills of a cat! Which would make an unmasking even more interesting!

I hope that some villain wants to take a look at her face that is hidden behind that mask one day.

There is little action in this episode and no fights at all. But I’m sure Wildcat will have to prove her skills in combat soon enough.

And Stargirl needs to learn an important lesson: NEVER call another (masked) vigilante by her/his real name! When the mask is on…she is Wildcat, dammit!

I really hate such scenes as it here unmasks Wildcat in the worst way possible.

Ok, lucky for them it’s a future teammate, but nonetheless I don’t like secret identity reveals like that one.

Can’t wait to see those two in battle against some villains!

The masked female vigilante VS criminal scum – Scenes 1 and 2

Post 2 of 2 for today

This movie has actually quite a lot of scenes with a masked female vigilante.

And she takes no prisoners, she wants to kill some criminal scum!

Scene 2, Preview:

Here is the video:

For now I wanna keep the movie title a mystery, there is more from this movie, incl. the unmasking of the vigilante!

If you want to see more….let me know via comment here or on Youtube.

I have mixed feelings about these scenes. I really like that this masked vigilante really takes her secret identity very serious and conceals it very well.

Ok, the combination with that mask and the ski mask looks a bit…weird, but it works.

I’m not 100% sure but I think that you can see that they used a male stuntdouble in some of the action scenes. The loose outfit makes it rather easy as you often can hardly see if the vigilante is a woman or a man.

What’s pretty embarassing is the gun of the cop who gets a little electrified by her. You can clearly see that it isn’t a real gun with that barrel. It rather looks like a water gun from the front view. 😉

I guess that’s a rather cheap prop gun.

Batwoman news/rumors: Caroline Dries talks about why Kate Kane is replaced in the show

Post 1 of 2 for today

Ok, not really much of an explanation, but she shares some insights about the process:

https://comicbook.com/tv-shows/news/batwoman-kate-kane-exit-explained-caroline-dries-showrunner-cw/

Well, as she mentions that the scripts for several episodes WITH Kate Kane were already finished, I still hope there is a slim chance for them to reconsider that decision.

Perhaps the reactions from the fanbase might change that decision. Even it doesn’t really looks like it as Caroline Dries talks about the decision in public….

The situation right now is pretty …uncool.

Nearly no one likes the fact that Kate Kane won’t be Batwoman anymore. And at the same time we have not the slightest clue on how the show will continue. When I think about season 2 and how the story may continue….my head starts spinning.

I really hope there is a great masterplan behind all that……

As you may have read in my many long reviews on the episodes, I’m pretty happy about how season 1 has turned out.

Kate was THE crucial part in her role as herself and as Batwoman. Her connections with Alice, Mary and Jacob were the main foundation of the show.

– What will happen to Kate? Will she disappear like Bruce did? Or will Batwoman be killed in the first episode of season 2? Which they couldn’t really show in detail as Ruby won’t be in the costume. IF she gets killed….that would be the biggest possible earthquake for the show and its characters. I hope that she “just” disappears as this would leave the door open for a return later in the show.

– Kate got into the costume in the first episode. But with this new character, I think that it could take quite some time that we see her in the costume and ready to take over for Kate. I am pretty sure that Luke and Mary will stay on the show and will look out for a new candidate. When Batwoman is missing/dead the crime rate will certainly increase big time. So they can’t take too long to grief.

– With a new Batwoman it feels like a sort of reboot of the whole show as many developments from the first season gets completely shattered. I enjoyed how Kate and most of the other characters evolved during the season.

Again….I really hope there is a great masterplan behind all that…

I WANT to believe it!

Stargirl – Season 1, episode 3 – Stargirl VS Icicle

In the newest episode Stargirl has to face Icicle!

Preview:

Here is the video:

[SPOILERS ahead, watch the episode before you continue!]

[SPOILERS ahead, watch the episode before you continue!]

The episode was pretty good. Not much of Stargirl in it, but I really liked how they introduced Icicle as a villain.

A great mixture between a caring father, charming buisiness man ….and psycho-maniac!

He is true evil, trying to kill a bus full of kids and as that failed he took care of another accident to happen in which a kid was actually killed.

Again the show switches from light comedy scenes to pretty dark ones. An interesting mixture.

And of course I hope that Icicle will get what he deserves!

Even I’m not a big fan of big team-ups in such movies/TV shows…..it will be interesting to see all the heroes that Stargirl will recruit over the next episodes.

Honestly I don’t know much about these characters so it will be a “surprise” for me to see them in action for the first time.

Especially I’m looking forward to see Wildcat in action! Two masked women battling some villains…..a really good scenario!

It was a little strange to see that her mask has a black elastic strap to keep it on her face as it “disturbs” the look in my opinion.

In some scenes like this you can see it:

Normally these smaller masks are fixated with some sort of glue, perhaps her mask is too heavy for that?

Kind of odd, because in most scenes you don’t see this strap…

Here is the preview for the next episode where Wildcat gets recruited by Stargirl:

Yeah, pretty thrilled for that one!

Batwoman news: A new character seems to become the Batwoman for season 2!?

This post represent the knowledge on June 3, 2020.
Not so accurate anymore….
It strongly seems that not only Ruby Rose isn’t returning to the show, her whole character will be exchanged by some reports!
Which means that Kate Kane wouldn’t be the Batwoman anymore!
Instead the casting call for the new Batwoman character reads like this:
“….he new character is named “Ryan Wilder” (whether that’s a placeholder name is unclear) and is described as a woman in her mid-20s who “is about to become Batwoman.”
“She’s likable, messy, a little goofy and untamed. She’s also nothing like Kate Kane, the woman who wore the batsuit before her,” the notice reads, according to Decider. “With no one in her life to keep her on track, Ryan spent years as a drug-runner, dodging the GCPD and masking her pain with bad habits. A girl who would steal milk for an alley cat could also kill you with her bare hands, Ryan is the most dangerous type of fighter: highly skilled and wildly undisciplined. An out lesbian. Athletic. Raw. Passionate. Fallible. And very much not your stereotypical All-American hero.”
——
——–
I thought it would be some very quiet months after season 1 has ended and it was announced that season 2 won’t start until january.
How wrong I was!
First the news with Ruby ….and now this!!!!
Which now brings up so much more questions!
How will Kate Kane exit the show?
I mean, if Ruby isn’t there they can’t have any more scenes with Kate…only some scenes with Batwoman, where she is only shown from certain angles so it wouldn’t be 100% clear that it isn’t Ruby under that cowl.
So does Kate just leaves without any scenes at all in the first episode?
Or will Batwoman (the Kate Kane version) be killed in the very first episode of season 2?
I don’t think they can make this drastic change look any “good” in that first episode….
And having a completely new Batwoman would really make look season 1 ….bad. All these storyline would be ended so abruptly, that it would feel weird at least…
With the introduction of a new character the whole Kate/Alice/Mary/Jacob relationsships collapse. And the new Bruce Wayne storyline would make way less sense.
—–
I hope that somehow that isn’t true and WB/CW will make an official announcement that this news is “fake”.
I was somehow ok with Ruby leaving, even I thought she did make a good job.
But this now…..brings up some many question marks!
Will Kate Kane return at some point?
On Twitter I read the theory that this new Batwoman would be a temporary replacement and that Kate Kane would return at some point.
Well, ok, this could work, but why would they do it?
Right now they have enough time to re-cast Kate before they start filming….
*EDIT* …..UNLESS….they already have a Kate Kane/Batwoman! But that actress is bound to other projects for the next months/year and will join the show at a later point. Of course then Kate can’t be killed in the first episode of season 2….she would need to disapear.
The character would then return to the show and lead the team afterwards. (ok, just my wishful thinking 😉 )

Hopefully there will be more news on this very soon!!!

Stargirl – Season 1, episode 2 – Stargirl VS Brainwave

The 2nd episode of Stargirl has aired and we do see her in the costume and mask for the first time!

Also she does have a nice, perilous fight against Brainwave!

Preview:

And here is the video:

A good episode in my eyes.

Ok, I have my usual problems with these teenagers issues and all the fantasy stuff. But that are rather minor problems.

[SPOILERS ahead! Watch the episode first!]

[SPOILERS ahead! Watch the episode first!]

[SPOILERS ahead! Watch the episode first!]

The scenes with her trying to find Brainwave in her school while he was looking for her at the same time, was a nice secret identity peril scene.

Especially as he discovered her, saw her face and knew her name.

The fight against Brainwave was very good and you can see that they have a bigger (CGI-)budget as many shows from the Arrowverse for example.

For a moment I thought he would even go for her mask, even he already knew who she is. Luckily he is out of the game for now, so her secret identity is safe for now.

So her mask really provides her with a secret identity and isn’t just decoration. I do hope the the next villains will be interested in finding out who is under that mask.

And here are two promo pictures for episode 4, which will be aired on June 8:

Well, I must say, a pretty cool mask that really hides her face!

And it hides her so well, that from what I can see on these pictures….I thought the actress would be a teenager, but actually the actress is 27! 😆

But ok, Brec Bassinger who plays Stargirl is 21 and her character is 15. So will Wildcat be 15 in the show as well while Yvette Monreal is 27? Would be kind of….bizarre.

Well, I am very much looking forward to this one! On IMDB she is listed for all 13 episodes but no mention that she is Wildcat as well.

Hopefully she will be around for the rest of the season!

I wonder how these two will meet in costume. Surely they will fight together VS the villains. With two masked women I really hope for some unmasking action/peril in the season!

Have you seen the episode already?

How did you like it?

Stargirl – Season 1, episode 1 – Stargirl VS some punks

This is post 2 of 2 for today!

Another TV show with a masked heroine in the lead has started this week!

Stargirl debuted earlier this week and I wanna present the scene where she first puts on a mask and fights some punks.

She hasn’t her costume yet, so she has to improvise to save some kids from being bullied by some low lifes.

Preview:

And here is the video:

Yeah, a nice first scene with her.

I like that she realises that she should mask herself before getting into a fight with these punks.

In the near future she should have her iconic costume and regular mask as well.

Looking forward to see more of her!

So far the show is promising and well made, even I have my issues with it. The lead character is 15, so a teenager with all the usual problems that mostly annoy me on screen.

I hope that she will have a real secret identity (unlike Catwoman for example), even I have my doubts from some clues so far.

Looking forward to her masked allies as well.

I will post more scenes in the future!

What do you think of the show and this scene?

Batwoman: Casting news/rumors #1 – Wallis Day, Katy O’Brian, Peyton List?

This is post 1 of 2 for today!

After the smashing news that Ruby Rose has left the show more and more casting rumors are circling aroud the web.

Looks like the CW is (seemingly) looking for:

– an actress that already was/is on CW shows

– an actress that looks at least a little bit like Ruby

 – an actress from the LGBTQ community

– age and height are also criteria of course

– at least a good physical fitness ( I would say)

I read about some names quite often and wanna present the 3 of them that would fit in my opinion:

(without particular order)

Wallis Day

  • mostly known for her roles in Krypton and The Royals, Hollyoaks (no CW connections)
  • 25 years, 5ft 8 ½ (174 cm)
  • IMDB-link

(click to enlarge to full size)

Pros:

– a pretty tall woman, which would fit good to being a bad-ass vigilante (in my opinion)

– very young, a long perspective

– looks like she could be Alice’s sister

– LGBTQ (like the CW wants)

Minus:

– no CW connections so far

An artist already put her into the Batwoman cowl (an old version of it):

— Link to the artist —

My opinion:

Haven’t seen her so on the screen so far, but certainly a really good choice as she fits in mosts criterias!

———————-

Katy M. O’Brian

  • Mostly known from her roles in Walking Dead, Z Nation and Black Lightning (CW)
  • Age: UNKWON(!?!), 5’7″ (1,70 m)
  • IMDB link

(click to enlarge to full size)

https://twitter.com/i/status/1264021013789962241

^^^ She can kick some serious ass! ^^^

Pros:

– has played in a CW show

– extremely fit! Would make a highly believable ass-kicking vigilante!

– LGBTQ (like the CW wants)

– age seemingly fits(?)

Minus:

– was already in an Arrowverse show. Even her character seems to not appear again in Black Lightning….it might look at least odd for some folks to see her in another role in the Arrowverse

– doesn’t really look much like she could be Alice’s sister

My opinion:

Another good fit, especially with her highly trained body!  The aspect that she played another character in an Arrowverse show…might be a problem?

—————————

Peyton List (Peyton E. List)

  •  mostly known for her roles 90210 (Lindsey Beckwith), The Tomorrow People (Cara Coburn), The Flash (Lisa Snart/Golden Glider)
Charmed (Nadia) (all CW), Picard and Gotham
  •  33 years, 5ft 6 ½ (168 cm)
  • IMDB link

Pros:

– has played in a CW show

– looks like she could be Alice’s sister

– age fits, height is ok too

Minus:

– LGBTQ (like the CW wants) ????

– fit enough ????

My opinion:

Some question marks remain! But she does fit in most criterias.

————-

Other names I read VERY often these days were Stephanie Beatriz and Rachel Skarsten.

I don’t think they would fit at all.

Beatriz is already 39, way too old for such a highly physical role in a TV show that should last some seasons. And she wouldn’t fit at all to Alice and Jacob.

And the idea of choosing Rachsel Skarsten to play 3 roles as Alice, Kate and Batwoman…is beyond absurd 😆

I am wondering how far they actually are in the re-casting process?

However it will be highly interesting to see who they choose!

I will keep you posted.

Any comments on the 3 above?

Or do you have another suggestion that fits in the criterias?
