Stargirl, Season 3, episode 13 [short review]

Finally, I could watch the new Stargirl episode today.

The final one of the season.

The final one of the entire show.

It was a solid finale with ….finally… some action and a good ending for the show and wholesome endings for most characters.

It clearly looked like the producers knew before the final episode that the show wouldn’t be renewed as there is no real cliffhanger in this one, but a real ending.

So it works much better as a final episode than the last Batwoman episode where the folks thought the show would go on.

Some images from the episode:

The final showdown at the junkyard was nice, even though I expected a little more action. Especially Wildcat had very few action scenes here.

But at least the masked women had quite a lot of screen time in this one 🙂

In my opinion, the show has some flaws: too little action, too little screen time for the masked women, practically no secret identities, too many heroes, and villains vs heroes fighting each other without the public knowing about anything.

But, it had 4(!) masked women in the show lately, so it was always very exciting for me …when… they had some scenes.

So, like Batwoman…. Stargirl has come to end now as well.

Not a good feeling.

I hope there will be a new show with a masked woman as the lead character soon to fill that …. void.

After all, there are so few TV shows which can offer that.

Oh, and the last episode actually offered a female unmasking in the last minutes:

Not my favorite mask, but it’s a good disguise for sure. Nice to have some unmasking content in the very last episode.

Kind of a farewell gift 😉

Stargirl, Season 3, episode 9 [short review]

After last week’s episode was my least favorite one of the season, episode 9 was MUCH more interesting!

Finally, we have a pretty long scene with Wildcat and Dr. Mid-Nite.

And also with good action in it!

Not exactly the hottest match as Wildcat was fighting against “Grandma Freeze” as I call her, but with some nice perilous moments included.

Ironically Stargirl is again missing from her own show as “only” Courtney is in that house as the action unfolds.

I am very curious to see how the show is going on forward after this episode, there are 4 episodes left and it’s time that we can see the plan of the bad guy.

And what will happen to Snakegirl aka Cindy?

Also, Rick is out of control right now, and that has to be fixed.

It was nice that Dr. Mid-Nite finally had her first real fight after she discovered the combat mode of her goggles.

The end of this season will also be the end of the show as it was revealed that there won’t be a season 4.

During season 1 this news would have been very sad, but by now it doesn’t have much of an impact on me.

I hope that shows with a masked female lead will be done in the future on another network (and studio).

The Arrowverse is on a decline for a while now and will end with the last season of the Flash.

So I hope for more masked ladies on TV and in the movies in the future 😉

Stargirl, Season 3, episode 6 [short review]

Finally, we have a decent fight scene with Wildcat and Cindy in this one!

Well, to be more precise….more like Wildcat VS Cindy in this one 🙂

Quite odd how seemingly no one calls the cops in this town, no matter what happens in the neighborhood 😆

Again all the vigilante VS villain action happens without any civilians noticing it.

But ok, that’s just an odd habit of this show.

What is important is that Wildcat had a nice screen time and a good fight scene!

The mysterious big villain still is in the shadows and you can only guess what he/she is up to.

It’s time for some action with him/her! I hope the villain will show up really soon so the heroes can battle him/her.

But back to the fight scene in this one. I really enjoyed the fight between Wildcat and Cindy.

A was rooting for Cindy a little bit as I was hoping she would unmask Wildcat… or at least try to unmask her.

Yes, she knows who Wildcat is… but it would show her dominance, and more importantly, it would leave Yolanda rather helpless since the Wildcat mask gives her her power.

Hopefully, some villain will go for it in the future 😉

7 more episodes to go this season, hopefully, the season will now move on with more action.

Episode 6 was promising in that regard.

Stargirl, Season 3, episode 5 [short review]

Well, this season is pretttttty slow so far and this episode is a good example of it.

I somehow have the feeling they created the storyline and then someone mentioned that they have to stretch it to make a full season out of it.

The main plot is moving ahead very slowly and all sorts of side stories are going on.

Yeah, all that is interesting and I still enjoy watching the show…. but… the title of the show gets more and more unfitting.

Stargirl isn’t in this episode at all as Courtney is fully occupied with being in love…

At least Wildcat has two short scenes but without action. 🙁

The trailer promised more than the episode had.

Starman and his anger management issues are more annoying by now than entertaining.

The big bad should show up really soon now as the whole mystery gets a little overdone by now.

Come on Stargirl producers!

I wanna see some action, some bad guys, and Stargirl, Wildcat & Co in ACTION!

This season is MUCH more a teenie drama than a superhero show.

Yeah, I know the CW likes it that way… but come on, just a couple of minutes of action per episode isn’t asked too much.

I hope the rest of the season will deliver more….

So far it’s not known if there will be a season 4 of this show, but I guess we will know soon.

Stargirl, Season 3, episode 4 [short review]

Stargirl is finally back in her own TV show!

A rather short scene without action, but at least something.

The story gets rolling a little faster and the episode had some good moments for sure.

We get some clues on a certain big bad villain and Cindy seems to be in for some major changes.

The trailer for the next episode promises some interesting action scenes with the masked heroines, so it seems like the season finally takes off after the start was rather….slow.

I am wondering what the big villain is up to, so far you can only guess.

Also, it will be interesting how that villain can fight against all those heroes and heroines.

Somehow I think that former villains like Crusher and his family will follow their dark sides again soon enough 😉

“Courtney and Friends” (aka Stargirl), Season 3, episode 3 [short review]

Yeah, I couldn’t help myself regarding the title of this post 😉

Basically, you could re-read most of the parts I wrote last week.

Stargirl, Wildcat, and Co don’t appear in this episode either. 🙁

Yeah, the “who is the murder” hunt is enjoyable, but again…I would like to see the title heroine in some action scenes.

The big action scene of the episode with (former) Starman VS Paula and Lawrence was really good as they fight their way through a grocery store.

Will be interesting if that will have any consequences, after all the fight was in public (at least until everyone else fled) and in such a store you might have some cameras.

Also, they continued the fight in the parking lot, there must be witnesses or footage of it.

But I guess it will have no consequences…. and the public gets a weird explanation of what happened there.

Looking forward to know more about what Cindy is up to. Clearly, she has some sinister plan after all and was setting up Sylvester in this one.

I hope the big evil mastermind is soon to be revealed.

And Stargirl should finally get a decent screen time in the next one.

Stargirl, Season 3, episode 1 [short review]

Stargirl is finally back!

Episode 1 of season 3 was a classic season opener for me. Much story to tell, little action.

And that means that Stargirl and co only had VERY limited screen time in this one. Two relatively short scenes with little action.

Certainly an interesting episode, but regarding material for this blog…. there was very little there.

On the good side, there were up to 4(!) masked women in these two short scenes! 🙂

Minor Spoilers ahead…

Storywise, I am not sure about the idea that all the JSA and Injustice League are now working together.

Not surprisingly characters like hourglass and Wildcat are not happy about working together with former villains and villainesses.

It’s a rather safe bet that it won’t work for too long 😉

Sadly, they all know each other’s …not so secret…secret identities so it would be SO easy for the bad guys to get the upper hand, but I think they won’t exploit that at all :-(.

Interestingly there were newspaper reports in this one about strange sightings that were caused by Stargirl.

Perhaps the public will FINALLY be aware that there are masked heroes and villains running around their city.

Then the masks would actually be really useful again as …so far… the heroes and villains only battled each other… while the normal people were not aware that these folks even exist.

And that would open some interesting possibilities….

Looking forward to the new episodes and ….hopefully…. there will be much more action with the many masked ladies of this show!

Season 3 of Stargirl has a teaser and (finally!) a starting date

Just a quick post about season 3 of Stargirl!

*EDIT* July 13: The longer trailer is now available:

Well, nothing much… but way more important is this:

The season has finally a starting date!

And that starting date isn’t far away…

On August 31 the first episode of the new season will be aired 🙂

Looking forward to it, especially since it’s the only ongoing TV show now with a masked heroine in the lead (plus all the other masked ladies).

Stargirl – Season 2, episode 13 + Armageddon poster with Batwoman

Watched the last episode of season 2 of Stargirl, and it’s time for a little review!

If you have read my other Stargirl reviews here (on season 2), you should get that I was quite disappointed how little Stargirl and Wildcat actually were in the episodes of this season, even the episodes were entertaining and interesting.

Well, for episodes 8-12 they weren’t in it all, and only one episode of the season had a lot of screentime with them.

Now, in the season finale, I got “compensated” quite a lot as there is quite a LOT of screentime with these two…. and also quite a LOT of good scenes as well 🙂

Finally, there is an episode with a lot of action again and I really enjoyed the whole showdown with Eclipso!

SPOILERS ahead! I recommend strongly watching the episode before you continue!

SPOILERS ahead! I recommend strongly watching the episode before you continue!

SPOILERS ahead! I recommend strongly watching the episode before you continue!

My favorite part was the Wildcat VS Wildcat fight, even I did curse at my TV after it was over for some special reason 😆

I just love this matchup as Eclipso let Wildcat imagine the original (male) Wildcat would fight her. And the original kicked her ass quite well for most of the fight as this was her nightmarish vision.

BUT…….it was SUCH a wasted opportunity to UNMASK Wildcat! Why? Well, they fight about who would be the better Wildcat. He even says something like “You don’t deserve to be Wildcat!” to her. So…..what would be better than to unmask her and thereby show her how much better he is (in this vision) and also to strip her of her powers at the same time? She would have been beaten if he had unmasked her. As she got the costume in season 1, it was totally not fitting to her, but as she completed the outfit by putting the mask on, the costume adjusted to her body and she got her Wildcat powers.

So, my guess would be that she only has her powers as long she is wearing the mask. It would have been really great if he had reached for her mask and yanked at it while she is desperately trying to keep the mask on. Well…..no luck 🙁

But nevertheless, I loved all the scenes with Stargirl and Wildcat fighting Eclipso and his visions! So great to see them in action, especially after their long absence.

Some pictures:

There were quite a lot of peril scenes with Stargirl as well, in the whole showdown with Eclipso she was beaten, choked, and tossed around. I think it looked a little cheap the way she looked as she was possessed by Eclipso, but ok, no big thing.

It was great seeing all these characters coming together to defeat Eclipso. I was surprised that The Shade was still alive and that even all the three “evil” Crooks showed up.

Season 3 will be aired next year and I’m very curious to see which characters will still be around then and what roles they will play. Looks like Cindy really will be one of the good guys then, hopefully, then she will get a mask to her costume as all the other women are wearing one to protect their “secret” identities.

Seems like the Shade will be still around then, I guess Grundy might show up again, even he is “indisposed” for now.

Will Jade be still there? So far, her role was quite small.

And what about Starman and Rick? Will they play a role without powers?

And what about the bad guys? In the end scene, Mister Bones was shown for the first time.

But there are also the three Crooks, who now live next door to the Whitmores 😆 and Cameron might join the bad guys as well.

Well, looking forward to the new season….until then I might re-watch episodes 6 and 13 of this season once or twice 😉

————————————————–

And now some news on Batwoman!

The Flash will start his new season (8) on November 16 with the big “Armageddon” 5 episodes event as I mentioned in the past.

Now we have a poster for this:

Looking forward to this, especially…..you may guess….because of Batwoman and Mia/(the new) Green Arrow.

I will post about these Flash episodes here!

Stargirl – Season 2, episode 12

Well, episode 12 is pretty much the “let’s get ready for the boss fight” episode.

SPOILERS ahead! Watch the episode first!

It’s all about re-building the team while including new allies like Cindy(wonder how that will work out) and the original Dr. Midnite.

It was another entertaining episode, but nothing much happens in terms of action.

It is also ANOTHER episode without Stargirl and Wildcat, even they do technically show up, but only in visions.

And ok, Yolanda does grab her cowl and holds it in her hands…but that doesn’t really count as a Wildcat scene.

Some pictures:

Now as 12 episodes of 13 have aired…I think it’s safe to say that the storyline could have been told in far fewer episodes.

Like 7 or 8 in total perhaps. But that would have been too short for a CW season, so the writers took the storyline and “inflated” it a little.

It’s safe to say that there should be plenty of screentime for Stargirl and Wildcat in the last episode, BUT all in all the amount of Stargirl in this season was just way too little.

From the 12 episodes that aired so far….1(!) had a big amount with them and Stargirl was seen the last time in episode 7.

I hope season 3 will have (much) more screentime with the masked heroines.

But now….I’m excited for the last episode of this season.

I hope the whole Eclipso storyline will end in that one.

Feel welcome to leave your comment!

What do you think about this episode and/or this season so far?

Stargirl – Season 2, episode 7

Spoilers ahead!

Well, after we got over 15 minutes with the masked ladies in the last episode as it had a massive fight scene with the bad guys….. we get quite the opposite this week.

The episode centers on Yolanda (aka Wildcat) and her guilt after she killed Brainwave in the season 1 finale.

It is a really good episode with nice horror elements.

….but in terms of the masked women in action….it offers nearly nothing.

Stargirl is in the picture for a few seconds and Wildcat only a little longer. Together it is less than a minute.

Some pictures:

Yolanda is so traumatized by the fact she killed Brainwave that she even decides to quit being Wildcat at the end of the episode!

But I bet that she will resume her role and costume pretty soon.

Interesting is the fact that it’s hard to say if it is Eclipso who is making her see things or if Brainwave is really taking over her mind more and more.

I would prefer the Eclipso option, that would make more sense to me.

Love how Eclipso is running around the town as this seemingly innocent boy but is manipulating people with his powers into doing evil things.

The trailer for the next episode isn’t very promising from my perspective as the episode seems to focus on Solomon Grundy. But ok, that’s just the teaser.

I hope for some more Stargirl action in the next one. Don’t think that Wildcat will appear in that one.

Stargirl – Season 2, episode 6

[1st post for today, one more to come]

Time to talk about episode 6 of Stargirl!

SPOILERS ahead!

SPOILERS ahead!

SPOILERS ahead!

Last week’s episode was already a really good one with finally real screentime with Stargirl, Wildcat, and co.

Episode 6 is even better and certainly has a big gamechanger!

Due to problems with Youtube, I won’t upload any Stargirl videos anymore, so some pictures and this text has to be enough.

Pictures first:

I increased the brightness of these pictures a little….

Ok, I liked a lot of things in this one!

A new masked villainess! Of course, every one of the good guys already knows who she is…..but well, it’s a nice addition! And I like her full face mask…just like an improved version of the one her father was/is wearing.

It’s soo odd that many of the bad and good guys wear masks….but for the most time, they all know who is under which mask. And the show NEVER shows any interactions of the masked folks with any civilians who seemingly don’t know about both teams.

It’s like there are two worlds in this show, the civilians and the unmasked alter egos of the heroes and villains…… and another one where there are the bad guys and the heroes.

But ok, enough of that, back to the episode.

The fight scene in the school is well-done and pretty long….I really enjoyed that one BIG time! Good stunt work and pretty creative as well 🙂

And damn, I know Eclipso would show up sooner or later…but what a debut!

Killing off two of the bad guys! Ok, perhaps there is some chance that Cindy may show up again….but it certainly doesn’t look like that!

His appearance now changes everything! It’s no longer some teenager in masks fighting some also young villains.

Now they have to face an incredible powerful……..well……monster that is seemingly so much stronger than everything they have encountered so far.

I wonder what Artemis will do now? Will Solomon Grundy show up again? Will they all team up with The Shade and the heroes to fight Eclipso?

After the pretty slow first 4 episodes….the last one and this one have me now fully “hyped up” for the rest of the season! 😉

Here is the trailer for episode 7:

Stargirl – Season 2, episode 5

I really like season 2 of Stargirl so far….but in terms of the screentime of the masked heroines….we got pretty little in the first 4 episodes.

Luckily there is plenty of Stargirl, Wildcat, and Dr. Midnite in this one! 🙂

In this post, you will find 2 videos with over 7 minutes of the masked ladies.

There is even a 2-minute scene with the unmasked Stargirl where she talks to her dad.

And when she isn’t wearing her mask…the scene doesn’t fully qualify for this blog 😉

Preview:

I really like the dark horror atmosphere that is building up this season.

And from what I heard….there is much more to come 😉

It’s very interesting how Eclipso lets them face their worst fears to manipulate them. I wonder how they will deal with that in the future!

I expected Wildcat to unmask herself as the loud noise was tormenting her but I’m glad that she had enough self-discipline to NOT take her mask off as that would be quite dangerous even at night in the school, someone could show up or cameras could be in place.

It still annoys me that basically everyone they encounter does know who they are under these masks….but well, hopefully, some folks will show up that don’t know their secret.

And still, even the bad guys know….I hope for a scene in which someone would unmask Stargirl or Wildcat…just to show them that they are “superior” or because they wanna see the unmasked face.

The storyline with Cindy wanna recruit Mike for the bad guys is promising, that could become potential pretty…..disastrous….. for the Whitmore family.

What is also interesting is that you now have basically 3 “camps” of villains right now:

  • Eclipso, the big, all-powerful force.
  • Then we have the Shade, who seems very much afraid of Eclipso.
  • And there is also Cindy and her new recruits.

I have the feeling that these 5 episodes of the season were only the foreplay and now things will really come in motion 😉

Here is the trailer for episode 6:

What do you think of this episode and the season so far?

Leave your comment below!

Stargirl – Season 2, episode 4 – ….well…. [+Batwoman stunt video]

[Post 1 of 2 for today]

Well, I could pretty much copy and paste my words from the review of episode 2.

In episode 1 we got less than 3 minutes of Stargirl and her team, without any action.

In episode 2 we got no masked woman on screen at all.

In episode 3 we got over 6 minutes with the team and at least action for half a minute.

In episode 4…..there are….23….seconds(!!) of Stargirl in it as she is prepping to leave her home. Yeah, that’s right, 23 seconds. 🙁

So far season 2 of STARGIRL had very, very, very little Stargirl (or Wildcat) in it.

Again the episode is interesting and I really like how the story is going in general.

What I don’t like is again that Stargirl and her team basically don’t have secret identities.

Spoilers ahead!

The Shade knows immediately who Stargirl is, most likely to the brilliant move that her father showed up with the team as they meet.

The Tigress and Crusher escape from prison and they know since the end of season 1 who is under these masks.

Sometimes I don’t know why they even are wearing these masks. So far we saw no interactions at all with any civilians who basically don’t know that they exist(?).

And all the villains learn their “not so secret”-secret identities really quick. 🙁

I wish that Stargirl and Co would have some random bad guys to beat up who at least wouldn’t know who they are.

I do like how Cindy is building up a team of villains, a new Injustice Society. Will be interesting to see how the different evil parties will interact with each other. Hard to say what the plan of the Shade really is.

The trailer for the next episode is actually really promising and shows only scenes with Stargirl and the others!

….so as I am a little disappointed so far….I’m pretty hyped for the next episode!

Things finally seem to start rolling in the action department. 🙂

Marshall Virtue posted this video, he is a/the stunt coordinator of the Batwoman show.
In this great video, you can see the pre-visualization of some stunts from seasons 1 and 2:

Pretty awesome video and an interesting behind-the-scenes look!

Stargirl – Season 2, episode 3 – finally some action!

I made an update on the Batwoman post below this one, check it out!

So, time to talk about episode 3 of Stargirl (season 2)!

After very little of Stargirl and her team in episode 1 and no scenes with them at all in episode 2….we FINALLY get a solid screentime with the masked ladies!

And we get some action and peril as well….but check out my 2 videos first!

Preview:

I really like The Shade as a villain so far….we know not much about him yet, but I like his style. And he surely seems to be pretty powerful that he could easily defeat the whole team.

They will have to find ways to defeat him…..and he won’t be the only villain they have to face.

The episode was pretty good, I could go without the whole magic pen and the Thunderbolt figure….but ok, I guess that might be an important factor later on when the bad guys wanna win him over to the dark side 😉

I read that this season will get pretty dark and I’m excited about it. I want the team to get tested to their limits and I prefer the dark(er) shows anyhow.

Of course, if I would be him and would have pinned them down like that….I might use these powers to yank their masks off as I am verrrry curious 😉

But on the other hand, it’s good to have a villain here that doesn’t know their secret identities from the start, I do hope that it stays like that for a while.

Perhaps later on he wants to find out who is behind these masks….and then PLEASE…..by removing their masks and not by some silly discovery as it happens WAY too often.

Or how about he attempting to unmask Stargirl or Wildcat? That would be quite awesome as well 😉

Looking forward to seeing how the plot unfolds. So far, we practically can only guess what the evil plan of the villains will be and how it all connects.

But with this episode…the season has really started for me!

Have you seen the episode already?

Feel welcome to leave a comment!
