Stargirl – Season 2, episode 8

First:

I updated the “Hall of Fame” with a new entry (15). If you checked the blog the last weekend it won’t be a new one for you, but it certainly deserves to be there.

Now, here is my short review of episode 8 of Stargirl (season 2):

SPOILERS ahead!

Another interesting and thrilling episode….BUT….and you know what comes now…….with NO scenes at all with the masked ladies.

Ok, well, Courtney is holding Wildcat’s cowl in her hands after Yolanda dropped her costume and cowl at Courtney’s place…but well, that doesn’t fully count.

After so much Stargirl and Wildcat in episode 6, we got practically no scenes with the masked ladies in the 2 episodes after that.

So, I really would like to see more of Stargirl in a TV show that is called “Stargirl” 😉

I want more Stargirl in “Stargirl”.

Sometimes it feels like a Batman movie where Batman has two scenes in it.

Some pictures:

But enough of that for now.

The episode focuses on Rick and Beth. They are both heavily influenced by Eclipso in different ways.

I like how he tries to manipulate them with their worst fears, that is really well played.

And that brat from hell is quite terrifying! I love the dark atmosphere and the horror elements of the episode.

The odds aren’t very good for team Stargirl at the moment.

Stargirl’s staff is still recovering, Courtney is really frustrated. Yolanda quit being Wildcat. Rick destroyed the hourglass beyond repair(?).

Beth won her “battle” with Eclipso for the moment, that was a victory much needed for the team and especially for her.

There are 5 more episodes in this season. At the moment my prediction/guess is that there will be very little or no scenes with Stargirl and her team in the next 2 episodes and that they then finally team up again to fight Eclipso in the last 3 episodes.

Here is the trailer for the next episode:

A female burglar and a female killer…… masked with fencing masks!

This one was really GREAT recommendation I got some weeks/months ago!

And finally, it’s time to present this one here…

Honestly, I would recommend that you watch the whole movie if you get the chance.

It has around just 80 minutes and most of the time you have one or two masked women in this one!!!

Such a “masked woman” screentime is just fantastic.

So, I had a pretty hard time editing videos for this one as I would upload a really big part of the movie if I would upload all the scenes with a masked woman in this one.

So, I focus on the two best scenes in the movie.

And if you can’t see the movie or wanna re-watch the best scenes…here you go:

Preview, scene 1:

Here is the scene:

Watch the video before you continue!

Ok, let’s start with the maskS! Then actually she is wearing some sort of ski mask or so underneath the fencing mask.

She really takes her secret identity very seriously and I love that!

And damn, all that talk about her mask and that she can’t take off her mask but the kid is demanding it……it’s just fantastic for me!

In terms of “mask talk”, this scene deserves a Maskripper Oscar 😉 …. and I will actually make a “Hall of Fame” entry for it in the next few days.

In this scene, I am on the burglar’s side as she keeps her end of the bargain and unmasks herself….unlike the cheaty little girl.

But the girl did a good job in talking the masked lady into unmasking herself, pretty clever….now she knows how the woman looks without her mask(s).

All in all a great scene!

But I do have another one for you folks…..

Watch the video before you continue!

Well, another fine scene, not as good as the first one, but another nice reveal!

Sadly he is no challenge to her at all after she was stabbed (understandably).

It’s a shame that he never had a real chance to attack her and go for the mask.

But I do like how she unmasks herself and looks at him before he dies.

And the fencing mask is very interesting, you can see her face with the right lighting, but not fully. Never saw fencing masks being used like that in a movie or TV show.

Again, I recommend watching the whole movie as you only then can understand the background story behind all of that. And you also get more minutes of the masked ladies 😉

I did find two interesting posters for this one:

I especially like the one on the left. Sexy Bella Thorne in leather + two masked leather-clad persons in the background.

It’s a little odd that both folks in the background look like women….if you ask me. One of the burglars is a guy, so is he not on the poster? That would mean that Bella Thorne is on that picture twice! Once in the foreground without a mask and once in the background with a mask and slightly different clothes.

Quite odd, but I am 90% sure that there are three women on it.

And even more oddly, Bella Thorne is twice on the other poster as well! And the guy isn’t there as well.

Really, really odd!

And the wound on the woman looks quite fake and she doesn’t get a wound like that in the movie….even she does get hurt on that side of the face.

Stargirl – Season 2, episode 7

Spoilers ahead!

Well, after we got over 15 minutes with the masked ladies in the last episode as it had a massive fight scene with the bad guys….. we get quite the opposite this week.

The episode centers on Yolanda (aka Wildcat) and her guilt after she killed Brainwave in the season 1 finale.

It is a really good episode with nice horror elements.

….but in terms of the masked women in action….it offers nearly nothing.

Stargirl is in the picture for a few seconds and Wildcat only a little longer. Together it is less than a minute.

Some pictures:

Yolanda is so traumatized by the fact she killed Brainwave that she even decides to quit being Wildcat at the end of the episode!

But I bet that she will resume her role and costume pretty soon.

Interesting is the fact that it’s hard to say if it is Eclipso who is making her see things or if Brainwave is really taking over her mind more and more.

I would prefer the Eclipso option, that would make more sense to me.

Love how Eclipso is running around the town as this seemingly innocent boy but is manipulating people with his powers into doing evil things.

The trailer for the next episode isn’t very promising from my perspective as the episode seems to focus on Solomon Grundy. But ok, that’s just the teaser.

I hope for some more Stargirl action in the next one. Don’t think that Wildcat will appear in that one.

Batwoman News: Trailer + Episode titles

I’m a little late with this here on the blog, but the full trailer for season 3 was released 2 days ago!

Check it out:

We get some quick scenes with the new characters of Renee Montoya, Jada Jet and Marquis Jet + we can see Mad Hatter and Killer Croc!

Some nice reveals 🙂

And also the first 5 episode titles were released today:

Spoiler title
3×01 – Mad as a Hatter— 3×02 – Loose Tooth— 3×03 – Freeze — 3×04 – Antifreeze — 3×05 – A Lesson From Professor Pyg

Well, that’s a really awesome lineup of villains! And that is only the first 5 episodes.

Three more weeks to go!

The “Nightwatchman” in action! – Scene 7 [Final]

It’s time for one last scene of the Nightwatchman in action!

So far, she did a really good job in helping the oppressed people of Nottingham.

She also managed to escape the bad guys, especially the evil Guy of Gisborne who wants to stop the Nightwatchman and unmask him (as he still thinks it’s a man #blind)

What will happen this time? Well, see for yourself…..

Watch the video before you continue!

Well….what can I say? Perhaps……WOW!

I got really attached to both Marian and the Nightwatchman in their adventures over 2 seasons of this show.

And know she is trapped, pinned down by Guy, he rips off her eye mask….finally he realizes the Nightwatchman is a woman.

I guess he also realizes now that it’s his beloved Marian under the mask of his hated Nightwatchman.

He slowly yanks down the fabric that still covers her face pretty well.

Finally, the Nightwatchman is UNMASKED!

There is quite a lot I really love about this EPIC unmasking!

The fight is done quite well, and the way she reacts to her more and more desperate situation is great.

She really sells the fear very well as her face gets exposed by him.

He is so shocked that it is Marian that he runs away at first.

He stills doubts that it was her all the time, wanting the see the scar he inflicted on the vigilante.

So, as she is forced to show that scar it’s like a second unmasking …in a way.

Perhaps a “NO!” or a “STOP!” would have been nice as he was about to unmask her…but she always stay silent in his presence as she was concerned he would recognize her voice….or at least realize that the Nightwatchman IS a woman.

So, it fits quite well, that she didn’t protest as he was unmasking her.

Well….I think this is one of the most thrilling unmaskings ever made in a movie or TV show. Especially I was so into the storyline after having seen over 20 episodes with her.

Ok, the Nightwatchman should have had more appearances, but well…I posted all 7 scenes of her….so, that’s not too bad.

Spoilers about Marian’s future in the show…..

Tragically this unmasking indirectly leads to Marian’s death just 2 episodes later as Gisborne is now really enraged.

At the end of season 1, she was already presumed dead. The producer loved the strong reaction of the audience as I saw in the bonus material on the Blu-ray set.

So they came up with the idea to “top” that and kill her off, this time for real!

I don’t like that decision at all, even it is a drastic and unusual way to kill off the big love of the main character! That was certainly not expected.

Of course, that also means that there were no more Nightwatchman scenes in the final third season, which was just ok for me.

I will re-watch seasons 1 and 2 at some point….but not season 3 😉

Batwoman News: Teaser + a picture + some minor spoilers + poster

[2nd post for today]

Yesterday, we finally got some promo material for season 3!

It was time the promo machine got started as the season is less than one month away (October 13).

Here is the teaser snippet:

Yeah, just some seconds…but…it’s good to know that Alice won’t just be in prison during season 3 at that would quickly get rather boring.

Also, we can see that the hunt for the trophies that Batman collected from the biggest villains is on!

Poison Ivy is confirmed and cast, but no news on the other possible villains like the Penguin.

If you scroll down a little to the Batwoman part….you can get more info on season 3 here:

*EDIT* September 17:

And we got a new season poster:

Really cool poster, love the Arkham Asylum background and Batwoman’s pose.

Is it October 13 already? No? Damn!

Stargirl – Season 2, episode 6

[1st post for today, one more to come]

Time to talk about episode 6 of Stargirl!

SPOILERS ahead!

SPOILERS ahead!

SPOILERS ahead!

Last week’s episode was already a really good one with finally real screentime with Stargirl, Wildcat, and co.

Episode 6 is even better and certainly has a big gamechanger!

Due to problems with Youtube, I won’t upload any Stargirl videos anymore, so some pictures and this text has to be enough.

Pictures first:

I increased the brightness of these pictures a little….

Ok, I liked a lot of things in this one!

A new masked villainess! Of course, every one of the good guys already knows who she is…..but well, it’s a nice addition! And I like her full face mask…just like an improved version of the one her father was/is wearing.

It’s soo odd that many of the bad and good guys wear masks….but for the most time, they all know who is under which mask. And the show NEVER shows any interactions of the masked folks with any civilians who seemingly don’t know about both teams.

It’s like there are two worlds in this show, the civilians and the unmasked alter egos of the heroes and villains…… and another one where there are the bad guys and the heroes.

But ok, enough of that, back to the episode.

The fight scene in the school is well-done and pretty long….I really enjoyed that one BIG time! Good stunt work and pretty creative as well 🙂

And damn, I know Eclipso would show up sooner or later…but what a debut!

Killing off two of the bad guys! Ok, perhaps there is some chance that Cindy may show up again….but it certainly doesn’t look like that!

His appearance now changes everything! It’s no longer some teenager in masks fighting some also young villains.

Now they have to face an incredible powerful……..well……monster that is seemingly so much stronger than everything they have encountered so far.

I wonder what Artemis will do now? Will Solomon Grundy show up again? Will they all team up with The Shade and the heroes to fight Eclipso?

After the pretty slow first 4 episodes….the last one and this one have me now fully “hyped up” for the rest of the season! 😉

Here is the trailer for episode 7:

Masked thief in action?!?

I was thrilled as I heard that Barbara Gordon would be in season 3 of “Titans” and that Gotham would be the setting during that season.

Of course, I had hoped that then Batgirl would be in the show….but the plot takes place years after she quit being Batgirl as she was severely injured and actually lost a leg(!), unlike in the comics.

That news pretty much killed a lot of my anticipation towards the season, but I decided to watch it anyhow.

And that was a good decision as I enjoyed the 7 episodes that have been aired so far.

In one of these episodes, we get 2 scenes that are very well suited for this blog!

Preview:

And here are the videos:

Watch the videos before you continue!

Well, that was a NICE surprise! Barbara Gordon as a masked thief 🙂

A little disappointing that she unmasked herself, but well, still a really good scene.

I like how she makes fun of Robin and fights him with just one hand.

The second scene is also good as she gets in real trouble there! Of course, I hoped the villainess would reach for the mask or a punch would unmask Barbara as her mask isn’t exactly well secured.

These scenes are placed before she actually became Batgirl.

I do HOPE that we get more flashbacks of her….would love to see her in the Batgirl costume, even it may “only” be the one with an eye mask.

Stargirl – Season 2, episode 5

I really like season 2 of Stargirl so far….but in terms of the screentime of the masked heroines….we got pretty little in the first 4 episodes.

Luckily there is plenty of Stargirl, Wildcat, and Dr. Midnite in this one! 🙂

In this post, you will find 2 videos with over 7 minutes of the masked ladies.

There is even a 2-minute scene with the unmasked Stargirl where she talks to her dad.

And when she isn’t wearing her mask…the scene doesn’t fully qualify for this blog 😉

Preview:

I really like the dark horror atmosphere that is building up this season.

And from what I heard….there is much more to come 😉

It’s very interesting how Eclipso lets them face their worst fears to manipulate them. I wonder how they will deal with that in the future!

I expected Wildcat to unmask herself as the loud noise was tormenting her but I’m glad that she had enough self-discipline to NOT take her mask off as that would be quite dangerous even at night in the school, someone could show up or cameras could be in place.

It still annoys me that basically everyone they encounter does know who they are under these masks….but well, hopefully, some folks will show up that don’t know their secret.

And still, even the bad guys know….I hope for a scene in which someone would unmask Stargirl or Wildcat…just to show them that they are “superior” or because they wanna see the unmasked face.

The storyline with Cindy wanna recruit Mike for the bad guys is promising, that could become potential pretty…..disastrous….. for the Whitmore family.

What is also interesting is that you now have basically 3 “camps” of villains right now:

  • Eclipso, the big, all-powerful force.
  • Then we have the Shade, who seems very much afraid of Eclipso.
  • And there is also Cindy and her new recruits.

I have the feeling that these 5 episodes of the season were only the foreplay and now things will really come in motion 😉

Here is the trailer for episode 6:

The “Nightwatchman” in action! – Scene 6

[Post 2 of 2 for today]

As promised another scene with the Nightwatchman today!

Robin is imprisoned and gets tortured by the bad guys, time for the Nightwatchman to save him!

Especially as the woman inside that costume is in love with Robin 😉

But Guy of Gisborne is determined to catch the masked vigilante and find out how actually is under these masks!

You have the choice….

English audio, but “just” SD/DVD quality:

HD/1080p quality, but with German audio:

Sorry, due to some technical difficulties 1080p+English isn’t available for this blog right now (just for this scene).

But I’m sure you can live with it well.

WATCH the video before you go on!

Well, that was a pretty close call for the Nightwatchman!

I love how he demands her to unmask herself! Luckily she won’t give up easily.

It’s great how the situation even gets more dangerous for her as the Sheriff sneaks up on her and holding his pretty big dagger to her throat. His diabolical smile…. is awesome!

Now she is really in big danger, every second a hand could reach for her masks and begin to UNMASK her.

I just love the tension in such scenes….really well done here!

In my version, a hand would actually start to yank on her mask but she would then escape the danger quickly.

I do have one more scene with the Nightwatchman…..and that is the best one, you might imagine why 😉

Stargirl – Season 2, episode 4 – ….well…. [+Batwoman stunt video]

[Post 1 of 2 for today]

Well, I could pretty much copy and paste my words from the review of episode 2.

In episode 1 we got less than 3 minutes of Stargirl and her team, without any action.

In episode 2 we got no masked woman on screen at all.

In episode 3 we got over 6 minutes with the team and at least action for half a minute.

In episode 4…..there are….23….seconds(!!) of Stargirl in it as she is prepping to leave her home. Yeah, that’s right, 23 seconds. 🙁

So far season 2 of STARGIRL had very, very, very little Stargirl (or Wildcat) in it.

Again the episode is interesting and I really like how the story is going in general.

What I don’t like is again that Stargirl and her team basically don’t have secret identities.

Spoilers ahead!

The Shade knows immediately who Stargirl is, most likely to the brilliant move that her father showed up with the team as they meet.

The Tigress and Crusher escape from prison and they know since the end of season 1 who is under these masks.

Sometimes I don’t know why they even are wearing these masks. So far we saw no interactions at all with any civilians who basically don’t know that they exist(?).

And all the villains learn their “not so secret”-secret identities really quick. 🙁

I wish that Stargirl and Co would have some random bad guys to beat up who at least wouldn’t know who they are.

I do like how Cindy is building up a team of villains, a new Injustice Society. Will be interesting to see how the different evil parties will interact with each other. Hard to say what the plan of the Shade really is.

The trailer for the next episode is actually really promising and shows only scenes with Stargirl and the others!

….so as I am a little disappointed so far….I’m pretty hyped for the next episode!

Things finally seem to start rolling in the action department. 🙂

Marshall Virtue posted this video, he is a/the stunt coordinator of the Batwoman show.
