Skilled assassin VS Blackbird and Grace [Black Lightning]

Black Lightning has only a few episodes left in its final season, but it still delivers good scenes with masked women!

And this one is so far the best of the season. We have a nice fight scene with a skilled assassin that fights Blackbird and Grace, who both have really good masks…in my opinion.

Earlier in the episode, the assassin tortured a guy so he would give up the secret identity of Blackbird, but he didn’t as he just didn’t know who she is.

She actually keeps her secret identity really well…..secret 🙂

But the assassin manages to find Blackbird and Grace….

And here is the scene:

Watch the video first before you continue!

As I said before I really like these masks! They cover their faces effectively but still show the eyes and parts of the upper face. These “half masks” are a good compromise between these tiny eye masks (example: Black Cat) and full-face masks (example: Spider-Gwen) for me.

The fight with him is pretty long and I was quite thrilled as I watched it as I always hoped he would manage to unmask one of them or both. Damn, how great it would be if at least his hand would have yanked on one of the masks in an attempt to yank them off.

But still, this is quite a highlight for me as you won’t find many scenes like that! Not one but two really well masked women in a long fight with a skilled attacker….rare stuff!

He is still out there to hunt down Blackbird…so I hope for more action scenes with him and other masked women in the next weeks. 😉

That is the episode with this fight scene:

Wallis Day cast as the new Kate Kane [Batwoman TV show] + Update, March 25

I was thinking about writing about the BIG casting news in my post from Monday that you will find below this one, but I wanted to give you a bigger chance to watch the episode before hearing the news 😉

And also, this deserves an extra post!

As the news got out last year that Ruby Rose was leaving the show….new names for her recast quickly popped up.

A name that was mentioned pretty often: Wallis Day.

Last year I made a post about the possible recast actresses and she was the first I mentioned in it.

Check out my post from last year:

https://maskripper.org/batwoman-casting-news-rumors-1-wallis-day-katy-m-obrian-peyton-e-list

And here is the news about Wallis Day:

https://ew.com/tv/batwoman-recast-kate-kane-wallis-day-episode-8/

(Left: Wallis Day in her role in Krypton – Right: Ruby Rose as Batwoman)

Some more pictures of Wallis:

I am very thrilled about this recast as I thought from day one that Kate Kane would be recast and return to the show at one point.

I expected her to re-appear near the end of season 2. Well, now she already is in the show in the middle of season 2.

But the question is: How long will it take her to escape that basement/sewer dungeon? How long will it take the others to realize that she is still alive?

So, I think it will take a while to see the new Kate be reunited with her loved ones after all. And they will certainly be much surprised to see how she had changed.

There are now so many questions that puzzle me. Why is she there? Who put her there and keeps her locked away? What kind of injuries did she suffer? Are these injuries from the plane crash? Is the one who is responsible for the plane crash the same one who keeps her locked away? etc.

I hope we will see Wallis Day in the next episode, even I do think she might have these bandages on for a while….after all, she seemed to have gotten some facial surgery as she now looks different.

I will watch now (at least) some episodes of Krypton as I never have seen Wallis Day in anything, except short video clips.

UPDATE, March 25:

We finally know who will play Black Mask just some days before the first episode with him airs!

Peter Outerbridge will play the masked evil mastermind!

I know him mostly from “Nikita” and “The Expanse”, but I have seen some other shows and movies with him as well.

Looking forward to see him in the role! Especially as he might be THE big villain for the rest of the season.

The post is a little later as usual, but I had a rather unusual thing to do yesterday, so I didn’t have enough time to write the review on Monday evening as usual.

Batwoman got RENEWED for season 3!!!!

I’m am verrrrry HAPPY right now! Fantastic news!

It is so great that any doubt of a season 3 is gone so early on!

The CW renewed 12 of their shows very early on, love how they handle their shows, in contrast to “cancel-Netflix”

Now I will have my special Batwoman shot….or two….. 😉

I also used my new browser extension to correct quite many (grammar/spelling) mistakes I made in the 20 reviews of season 1.

Should have got such a useful tool way earlier!

An AWESOME Batwoman promo poster! + The snyopsis of episode 1 of season 2

One last post for 2020.

Yesterday I felt like a child on christmas as a late christmas gift appeared on the CW social media accounts. 🙂

It was THIS season 2 promo poster:

Oh…..my …..GOD!!!!

Love how her cowl is presented by her, while her face stays in the shadows 🙂

My mouth was wide open as I found the twitter post with this one.

As soon as I find a real big version of this one I will order a poster with this asap.

*EDIT*

Here is the synopsis for episode 1 of season 2:

Spoiler title
GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN – Kate’s friends and family hold on to hope that Kate may still be found, a homeless 25-year-old named Ryan Wilder (Javicia Leslie) stumbles upon Kate’s Batsuit.  Focused on no longer being a victim, Ryan takes the suit to use as armor and goes rogue in the streets of Gotham, taking out various members of a new gang called the False Face Society.  Meanwhile, both Jacob Kane (Dougray Scott) and Luke Fox (Camrus Johnson) launch searches for Kate, Mary Hamilton (Nicole Kang) grapples with losing yet another family member, Sophie Moore (Meagan Tandy) struggles with things left unsaid to her first love, and Alice (Rachel Skarsten) is furious that someone got to Kate before she could exact her revenge.  At the same time, “Bruce Wayne” (guest star Warren Christie) returns under the pretense of searching for Kate, but the truth is he wants his suit back and it becomes the clash of imposters as “Batwoman” and “Bruce” square off in the action-packed season premiere. Holly Dale directed the episode written by Caroline Dries (#201).  Original airdate 1/17/2021.  Every episode of BATWOMAN will be available to stream on The CW App and CWTV.com the day after broadcast for free and without a subscription, log-in or authentication required.

Just 17 more days to the start of season 2!

Batwoman: Promo pictures for episode 1 of season 2

The Batwoman Promo machine is coming to speed after we finally got the trailer last week!

Now Entertainment Weekly published 9 pictures today.

Here you can see all 9 of them in one place:

Quite a lot of question can be asked about these pictures:

Will be very interesting to see how Elliot disguised as Bruce Wayne will act in the early episodes.

What is his goal? How will they find out that it isn’t Bruce Wayne after all?

What does he have in picture number 4 in his hands. I guess a weapon….but what kind?

And Kate Kane disappears and Ryan Wilder surfaces…..will be interesting to see how all of the characters will handle that.

Where does the new car is coming from? The red colored section and the bat symbol aren’t on it at that point.

Who is poiting that gun at Alice? And why?

Oh, the first episode will have to answer a LOT of questions!

Season start on January 17, just one month to go!

Batwoman: Season 2 TRAILER!

Finally!

A trailer!

A real trailer!

A REAL TRAILER!!!!!

Excited as hell right now!

Love the creepy start in the trailer with Alice doing what she can do best 😉

Wonder what her beef with Julia here is?

Ryan will have a rough start she will need to persuade Mary and Luke that she can be the new heroine the city need.

Sophie and Jacob should now finally realise that Batwoman was Kate the whole time….

38 days to go! 🙂
