Batwoman news from the San Diego Comic Con

A little late, but here is my roundup for the Batwoman related news from the San Diego Comic Con!

Some promo material and more have surfaced 😉

(click on the picture to enlarge them to full size!)

And there were some videos!

A trailer for all the Arrowverse shows:

Well, sadly, nothing much new from Batwoman…only some frames around this scene:

…where Batwoman uses her batgrapple to go after the bad guys (and girls).

Interviews from the unmasked Batwoman and other Arrowverse leads:

And some new info from the producers of the show (with small Spoilers):

    1. – Alice will be the main villain for season 1 (no big surprise, as she is her arch enemy)- In episode 3 they will introduce an interesting villain that wasn’t on TV so far (besides animation), an enemy of Batman. It will be Thomas Elliot aka Hush!

    1. – Burt Ward (Robin from the 60’s Batman TV show!) will have a part in the next crossover

    1. – Supergirl and Batwoman will become close friends (like implied in the last crossover), and should have some episodes together in the future (starting in season 1 or later…)

    1. – The atmosphere will be similar to Arrow Season 1, pretty dark….which fits to Gotham of course 😉

    – And like in Arrow Season 1, they try to keep it as realistic as possible

None of the actors of the show were on the panel, since they were too busy shooting and couldn’t make it to the con (unlike the folks from Arrow, Flash, Supergirl etc.).
Other than that they didn’t revealed much interesting stuff.
As much as I like these facts… I did expect more Batwoman news from the ComicCon.
And especially some new video material from the show. And despite some frames in the video in my post above this one….there was nothing.
Many visitors at the Con had the chance the see the complete pilot. I am still jealous! 😉

68 days to go!

Massive Batwoman promo in the days before the San Diego Comic Con (SDCC)

The San Diego Comic Con starts officially tomorrow and I wanted to present all the promo stuff to you, that I saw in the last days.

I already bought my issue of the Comic Con special from the TV guide, of course the one with the Batwoman cover 😉 , it is on its way and should arrive next week.

Here is the promo stuff I found in the last days:

(click on the image to enlarge it to full size)

… and hey, there is more!

2 Batwoman posters!

(click on the image to enlarge it to full size)

As mentioned before the San Diego Comic Con starts tomorrow (goes until sunday)!

So I hope for a rather MASSIVE bunch of new pictures, videos and facts from the show in the next days.

The pilot episode is shown there on saturday…and we should read a lot about it on the weekend 🙂

Damn, I envy all folks who have the chance to watch it on the weekend!

I am really thrilled about the next days….

81 days left!

Batwoman news – TV guide Comic Con special

88 Days left until the first episode of the BATWOMAN TV show on the CW!

The Comic Con in San Diego is just around the corner (July 18-21), and we should get more news, videos and pictures soon.

Yesterday it was announced that the TV guide magazine will bring out a Comic Con special with 4 different covers.

2 Covers are of special interest if you are interested in BATWOMAN (and the other superhero-shows on the CW):

all 4 covers – click to enlarge

Well, you may guess which cover version I must get 😉

Very excited for this magazine!

It isn’t 100% clear when the magazine is for sale exactly…but I would say at the end of next week, when the Comic Con is running.

Unfortunately, since I’m not living in the US, I need to figure out how to get that magazine for a reasonable price.

Sadly, it is impossible to buy the really interesting foreign magazines here.

But one way or another…I have to get a copy! 😉

Batwoman news – The date of the first episode is out!

This new promo picture from the CW has the vital info we have been waiting for….

(click to enlarge to full size)

And as you can see on the right side, I adjusted the Batwoman countdown-clock to that date! 111 days to go!

The show starts just a little earlier than I expected, and I feel like it is an early birthday present when it will hit the screen. 🙂

The filming of all episodes (besides 1, which is already completed) will start in early July.

The San Diego Comic con goes from July 18 to 21.

Keeping these two facts in mind, I am sure we will get new material and facts on the show next month. Promo pictures, pictures from the filming…perhaps some videos.

Damn, this guy is excited like hell for the next months…and especially for October 😉

Batwoman News [Crossover on Netflix, dark atmosphere]

2 small updates on Batwoman:

1) The Elseworlds Crossover (with Batwoman) is now on Netflix
If you have Netflix (I don’t) …and didn’t see the Elseworld Crossover so far (Of course I have!!!)….you can do it now.
You have to watch these episodes (in this order) to see the full Elseworlds Crossover:
The Flash, season 5, episode 9
Arrow, season 7, episode 9 – (90% of the Batwoman scenes are in this one)
Supergirl, season 4, episode 9
2) Batwoman will be the darkest show of the Arrowverse
The Production designer of Batwomen, Lisa Soper compares the show with the trailer of the new Joker movie.
She says that it will be darker than Gotham and the other shows of the Arrowverse.
Well, as Batman, Batwoman is a creature of the night, so a rather dark tone fits very good and I really like a dark(er) tone in a movie or TV series. I mean Legends of Tomorrow is half a comedy, Flash has dark moments but the hero does see much more daylight than Batman/Batwoman and it has comedy elements as well (Ralph etc.). Arrow has some darkness and tragedy, but now less than at the beginning in my opinion. And the relationsship between Oliver and Felicity changed quite a lot in that matter…. so much relationsship drama, his son …etc.
The CW should have enough experience by now with all those superhero shows, that I’m confident that they know what to do with …this… caped crusader.
And if you “only” wanna watch all scenes with Batwoman and Kate Kane, check out this post:

Batwoman – and her different MASKS on the CW TV show

I am sure many of you noticed that Batwoman (Ruby Rose) has worn two different masks so far. First, we saw her in the Crossover with her “regular” mask and wig. And now, in the trailer from last week, she wore a different mask without a wig (the pilot plays years BEFORE the Crossover).

Where are the differences? Well, as I have a Dr. in ….maskoligy…..I will try to show them to you 😉

For starters, let’s me present her “regular” mask that she will wear from the ending of episode 1 (most likely):

(cropped pictures to show the mask/cowl)

There are at least 3 differences from her regular mask (pictures 1-6) to the mask she wears for most parts of the trailer (pictures 7-12). I believe that it is just a size-modified Batman cowl that Luke Fox made to fit Batwoman’s head.

The differences:

1) most obvious – Her regular mask includes a flashing red wig. Therefore I think her, the material on top of her head was removed, the cowl seems open, her wig is right on her real hair.

I don’t think her wig is “glued” to the top of her mask. Even it would make some things easier (for the actress).

2) The whole shape is different!

The modified Batman mask is much rounder as her regular one. It looks bigger to me (volume/capacity).

You can see the shape of her ear on the regular one (picture 2) and it fits better to her head in my opinion.

3) The eye section!

If you compare the mask around her eyes…you can see that the material of the modified Batman mask is flat. On her regular mask, it is shaped much different. It looks menacing (like it should be) and should provide much better protection for her if someone would score a hit in that area. With that shape, it should hurt to hit her there 😉

Things I would like to know about these masks:

1) From what material(s) are they made off?

I think that it is rather some “hardened kind of plastic” like Christian Bale’s Batman cowl. Personally I would love if it would be made out of thick rubber, that could be stretched a bit (for unmasking purposes of course 😉 )….but I don’t think it is.

2) Is the back section of her regular mask “closed” as well?

You can see that her Batman-mask is “closed” (pictures 7 and 11) at the back of her head.

Due to the wig, we couldn’t see the back of the cowl on her regular mask. Is it closed as well? In the comics she doesn’t wear a cowl, it “just” covers her face and some parts of the sides of her head. If it is not closed around her head…how it is fixed to stay on it?

3) Does she wear a “cowl of cloth” underneath her mask?

If you check picture 11, you can spot some cloth material that exits her mask on her cheek. And on pictures 2 and 7 you can see that this cloth material covers her neck from the top of her suit upwards. How far does that cloth material “goes” upwards?

……to be continued…..

What do you think about these masks?

Do you see other differences that aren’t on my list?

Batwoman TRAILER, Sneak Peak and MUCH more!

I guess that will be the longest post I ever made here on Maskripper, but…

…well, these are really exciting days….a lot of BIG news on the Batwoman TV show!

When will the show start?

1) It will run on Sundays at 8 PM on the CW, right before Supergirl (9 PM)

2) It will start sometime in Fall, the exact date will be announced in the future

The Trailer is here:

A “Sneak Peak” is there too:

And a general, short trailer for all the Arrowverse shows…with some seconds of Batwoman as well:

And now something to read as well…the Official Storyline:

BATWOMAN — Kate Kane (Ruby Rose) never planned to be Gotham’s new vigilante. Three years after Batman mysteriously disappeared, Gotham is a city in despair. Without the Caped Crusader, the Gotham City Police Department was overrun and outgunned by criminal gangs. Enter Jacob Kane (Dougray Scott) and his military-grade Crows Private Security, which now protects the city with omnipresent firepower and militia. Years before, Jacob’s first wife and daughter were killed in the crossfire of Gotham crime. He sent his only surviving daughter, Kate Kane, away from Gotham for her safety. After a dishonorable discharge from military school and years of brutal survival training, Kate returns home when the Alice in Wonderland gang targets her father and his security firm, by kidnapping his best Crow officer Sophie Moore (Meagan Tandy). Although remarried to wealthy socialite Catherine Hamilton-Kane (Elizabeth Anweis), who bankrolls the Crows, Jacob is still struggling with the family he lost, while keeping Kate –– the daughter he still has –– at a distance. But Kate is a woman who’s done asking for permission. In order to help her family and her city, she’ll have to become the one thing her father loathes –– a dark knight vigilante. With the help of her compassionate stepsister, Mary (Nicole Kang), and the crafty Luke Fox (Camrus Johnson), the son of Wayne Enterprises’ tech guru Lucius Fox, Kate Kane continues the legacy of her missing cousin, Bruce Wayne, as Batwoman. Still holding a flame for her ex-girlfriend, Sophie, Kate uses everything in her power to combat the dark machinations of the psychotic Alice (Rachel Skarsten), who’s always somewhere slipping between sane and insane. Armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, Kate soars through the shadowed streets of Gotham as Batwoman. But don’t call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a savior, she must first overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope. Based on the characters from DC, BATWOMAN is from Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television with executive producers Greg Berlanti (“Arrow,” “The Flash,” “Supergirl”), Caroline Dries (“The Vampire Diaries,” “Smallville”), Geoff Johns (“Arrow,” “The Flash,” “Titans”) and Sarah Schechter (“Arrow,” “The Flash,” “Supergirl”). David Nutter (“Game of Thrones,” “The Flash,” “Arrow”) and Marcos Siega (“The Vampire Diaries,” “You”) executive produced the pilot.

My opinion on the trailer:

I was rather surprised we get a trailer that long at this time! 🙂

And that is “only” material from the pilot episode, which was the only one that was filmed so far.

I liked the rather dark tone of it, both in optics AND atmosphere. Very fitting, like Batman…Batwoman is a creature of the night with a rather troubled past.

We get introduced to the (so far) important characters, get a feeling for the story of the pilot and some good action scenes as well.

There is a lot of ….fuzz…over Kate’s two…well….”feminisitc(?)” lines, but I think they just wanna make a statement in the trailer. I don’t think she will drop such lines on a regular base in the Show later this year. I don’t have a problem with it, as long as it doesn’t get …too much.

And seeing this trailer…..it is something really….HUGE for me. As you may know by now, I really have a thing for masked women. 😉

She wears a great masks that really hides her identity, there are so MANY examples in other shows were the women have rather small masks that doesn’t hide enough to provide a good “secret identity cover” for the woman underneath the mask.

And to have a show with such a masked heroine in the LEAD role…..it is a dream coming true.

My biggest questions about the show so far:

1) When will the show start exactly? So that I can configure the timer on the right side 😉

2) Which characters will we get to see in that season? Villains/Villainesses? What other heroes/heroines? Gotham has A LOT to offer 🙂

3) Is Alice the main villainess?

4) Who will figure out who is under Batwoman’s mask? And When?

In the trailer…”only” Luke Fox seems to be “in the know”, as he is responsible for her suit and gadgets. In the comics her father knows it from the start (as he train her), but it’s not sure the TV show will do it like the comics.

5) How many unmaskings will be shown? And what types of unmaskings? (Self, forced, unconscious, bound, fight …-unmaskings?)

6) Her masks (in the trailer we saw 2 versions): From what material are they made of? What are the exact differences between the both types we saw so far?

7) What is the main storyline? (after the pilot)

8) How much screentime will Batwoman actually get in the episodes?

What do YOU think of all those videos and info?

Batwoman news (TV show?)- #1

A short post for the latest Batwoman news!

After she gave her debut in the Elseworlds Crossover in December it was finally confirmed that she will get a pilot episode for her (not yet 100% safe) own TV show in 2019.

Now it is official that the filming for this pilot episode will start on March 4th in Vancouver (where they film most of the shows for the Arrowverse). That is only 6 weeks away!

If the bosses at CW like it, her own TV show should start in the fall season together the new seasons of the other shows from the Arrowverse!

I keep you updated on Batwoman 🙂

Tthe Batwoman countdown clock on the right side has a new date!

Batwoman (and Kate Kane) in the Elseworlds Crossover

Ok folks, now that all episodes of the Elseworlds Crossover event were shown, this weeks post will be done today instead of posting it on the usual sunday.

Because nobody should be kept waiting to see this material 😉

I do have two videos and one big picture gallery for you. For the first video I combined all Batwoman scenes in one video and I did the same with the Kate Kane scenes in the second video.

My opinions on all of this can be found on the last part of the post.

I recommend that you watch the video with Kate Kane first, for a better understanding!!!

*EDIT*: Some additional (HQ-) images that a really nice follower of this blog sent:

My opinion on the Crossover:

—> In general:

It was a lot of FUN! Many funny scenes, sooo many Easter Eggs (Batman villains, Smallville, Legends of Tomorrow and more) and a pretty good story with some really good action scenes as well. I think it was a good idea to make this years Crossover a little “smaller” with just 3 episodes from 3 shows. I like it when you don’t have too many characters in it. With the Legends of Tomorrow it was a little too much for my taste.

The idea with the alternative realities is pretty cool. It was very interesting to see some of the cast in other roles. The scene with Kate and Kara was very important to introduce Kate to the Arrowverse and give her some depths before presenting Batwoman. And that brings me to my biggest interest in this years crossover….

—> Batwoman:

It is no big surprise to most of you that I have a “thing” for masked women. 😉

So, the idea of bringing Batwoman into the Crossover this year, fueled my anticipation BIG time. Since months I really was looking forward to see her on the screen. Instead of most heroines and villainesses I saw in the past on TV, comics and the internet, Batwoman has a “real” mask. A mask that actually really covers her secret identity (and a wig for even more cover). She is one of my favorites among Batgirl, Catwoman and Black Scorpion. And the idea to introduce Batwoman in the Crossover and (and hopefully!!!) giving her her own TV show next year…..seems fucking fantastic to me!

As I heard that Ruby Rose would play her, I didn’t really know what to think of it. I had seen only very little of her and decided to watch/re-watch more of her the last months (Triple X 3, Wick 2, Resident Evil: Final Chapter, Meg). And now I am very happy about the fact that she got the role. Of course her part wasn’t very big (around 8 Minutes as Batwoman AND Kate Kane), BUT I really think she will/would do a great job in her own TV-series.

The mask/cowl looks fantastic and her costume is pretty good. The Batwoman symbol looks really good on her. Ok, I would tried something with leather and rubber on the suit (like the Batgirl suit from Batman and Robin or Birds of Prey…but perhaps that would have been too much for some folks 😉 )
And that possible TV-series….would be a DREAM coming true for me. Always wanted a big TV show with a masked heroine in the main role. The only other two I know are “Queen of Swords” and “Black Scorpion” and both had only one season each, which lay back quite some time now.

—> Unmasking action:

Well, for less than 4 minutes of Batwoman, I think we got quite a lot!

Kate walks over to her costume and cowl. Really cool to see her standing before it.

And actually Batwoman got UNMASKED by Supergirl. Ok, the mask didn’t come off physically, BUT the very curious Supergirl uses the X-ray vision to see behind the cowl of Batwoman, finding Kate Kane under it.

But nice as Supergirl is, she easily gives up her own secret identity to Batwoman as well. And both already have a strong bond to each other, so they both know they can trust each other with their secrets.

And the possibilities for more unmasking action with Batwoman in that possible TV-show are…..ENDLESS. 🙂

Ok, enough from me for now.

What do you think about the Crossover and especially Batwoman in it?

Leave your comment below!

P.S.: You may have notice the change in the picture headline on top of the blog already… 😉

Batwoman got her well deserved spot!

Batwoman in the Arrowverse – #5

Ok, only 9 days left until the big crossover event “Elseworlds” starts with Batwoman aka Kate Kane (played by Ruby Rose).

There is still no real trailer out (nothing with more than 30 seconds) but, perhaps this weekend or early next week at the latest.

Until then….I still have something new to show you folks.

2 new pictures with Batwoman have surfaced yesterday:

These pictures are a great addition!

Love the good look at her mask in the first one. And Stephen Amell (aka “Flash”) looks really….funny/disgusted (?) in this one. Yeah, he isn’t used to female vigilantes with a real mask 😉

Or Batwoman doesn’t want to play along with the other good guys.

On the second picture, someone is standing behind Batwoman, and pretty close. In my fantasy that person is reaching for her mask from behind before getting a massive kick from Batwoman ;-).

Who is that? We will see…..

But in any case, I’m still hyped like hell about Batwoman in this show. Finally a heroine with a perfect disguise on TV. Her secret identity is hidden very well, and no one could possible know who she is without unmasking her.

And that’s exactly like I love it.

Still it isn’t clear if the mask goes around the whole head (back?), but we will see that sooner or later too.

Here is a “extended” teaser/trailer, but that just means that it has 30 seconds instead of 20 😉

Still not a real trailer, but we do see Batwoman and a Batarang!

What do you think of all of this?

Let us know by commenting below!

Batwoman in the Arrowverse – #4

A little late, but of course this teaser must be on this blog as well….because…it has the first scenes of Batwoman in “action”!

Ok, just a teaser with some seconds of her…but a great appetizer!

A real trailer should be there soon! 😉

And from this news it looks like Batwoman will first appear in the 2nd part of the crossover (Arrow), so we need to wait one more day for her…..but that is not a problem 😉

What do you think of it?

P.S.: And don’t forget to check my self written story Catwoman – the masked scuba thief!

Batwoman in the Arrowverse – #3

A quick update on the biggest TV event of the year!

Only 24 days until the first episode of the big Crossover event which will introduce Batwoman!

EDIT: A fresh picture from today:

And if you wanna read the article from Batwoman.tv:

Link

On the last days we got the first two little teaser-trailers. Very short and without…. Batwoman.

But this is only the start! Soon we will see her in a real trailer…you can count on that! 🙂

Here are these two teaser trailers:

(A repost of) the most important/interesting pictures so far:

Stay tuned for more promo material!

Batwoman in the Arrowverse – #2

Just a quick, short post before the “regular” sunday post tomorrow.

A first set picture with Batwoman (Ruby Rose) has arrived!

Check it out:

*EDIT* : A 2nd picture has shown up!

Well, that fuels my hype even more!

She looks great alongside Melissa Benoist (Supergirl). That mask is really something 🙂

And the other picture is even better, because of the better lighting. That Arrow producer there is a happy dude!

44 days to go!

What do you think of it?

Batwoman in the Arrowverse – #1

Ok, folks, it’s time to start a new sort of series on this blog!

As most of you (hopefully) know already, Batwoman will make her first appearance on TV in the big Arrowverse Crossover event, featuring an episode each from the CW series Flash, Arrow and Supergirl.

And, with a thrill of anticipation I’m looking forward to that crossover from the day it was announced that Batwoman would make her debut in that.

I’m watching these series anyway, but this fuels my ….”delight level” to a whole new level! 🙂

Especially regarding that she will get her own TV-SERIES after that!! (most likely, if nothing insane happens)

Why I am so happy about it?

Well, how many …at least solid…..movies and TV-series did we have with a proper masked heroine over all the years?

Not many! Catwoman in Batman Returns, the Black Scorpion series, Batgirl in Birds of Prey (one episode), the Queen of swords series (even the mask isn’t really a proper mask)

and lately some masked women in Arrow, The Flash and Supergirl (and mostly only eye masks).

Check my Hall of Fame for more info on these!

And now, Batwoman!

And I really like her from the comics and the animated movie (“Bad Blood”). Her wig and mask makes a really good disguise! Not like most other masked heroine, who wear tiny eye mask that cover nearly nothing. And I really hope that Ruby Rose makes a great debut as Batwoman!

And yesterday we got the first official picture with Ruby Rose as Batwoman:

And DAMN, I’m really happy with it!

A really great mask/cowl! The moment she hits the screen….I will be very…..excited! 😉

The costume is ok, more practical than sexy. Had hoped for some leather or even rubber…but well, that wasn’t very likely if you know the costumes of these 3 shows.

Of course it is not guaranteed that there will be a good unmasking. Perhaps Supergirl or Flash use their speed to unmask her to find out who she is. Or most likely Batwoman will trust them and unmask herself.

But whatever happens, every second with her on-screen will be really great (for me)!

And now some pictures of Ruby Rose without the costume:

(click to enlarge to full size)

What do you guys think of the costume?

Feel free to leave a comment!
