Stargirl – Season 2, episode 13 + Armageddon poster with Batwoman

Watched the last episode of season 2 of Stargirl, and it’s time for a little review!

If you have read my other Stargirl reviews here (on season 2), you should get that I was quite disappointed how little Stargirl and Wildcat actually were in the episodes of this season, even the episodes were entertaining and interesting.

Well, for episodes 8-12 they weren’t in it all, and only one episode of the season had a lot of screentime with them.

Now, in the season finale, I got “compensated” quite a lot as there is quite a LOT of screentime with these two…. and also quite a LOT of good scenes as well 🙂

Finally, there is an episode with a lot of action again and I really enjoyed the whole showdown with Eclipso!

SPOILERS ahead! I recommend strongly watching the episode before you continue!

SPOILERS ahead! I recommend strongly watching the episode before you continue!

SPOILERS ahead! I recommend strongly watching the episode before you continue!

My favorite part was the Wildcat VS Wildcat fight, even I did curse at my TV after it was over for some special reason 😆

I just love this matchup as Eclipso let Wildcat imagine the original (male) Wildcat would fight her. And the original kicked her ass quite well for most of the fight as this was her nightmarish vision.

BUT…….it was SUCH a wasted opportunity to UNMASK Wildcat! Why? Well, they fight about who would be the better Wildcat. He even says something like “You don’t deserve to be Wildcat!” to her. So…..what would be better than to unmask her and thereby show her how much better he is (in this vision) and also to strip her of her powers at the same time? She would have been beaten if he had unmasked her. As she got the costume in season 1, it was totally not fitting to her, but as she completed the outfit by putting the mask on, the costume adjusted to her body and she got her Wildcat powers.

So, my guess would be that she only has her powers as long she is wearing the mask. It would have been really great if he had reached for her mask and yanked at it while she is desperately trying to keep the mask on. Well…..no luck 🙁

But nevertheless, I loved all the scenes with Stargirl and Wildcat fighting Eclipso and his visions! So great to see them in action, especially after their long absence.

Some pictures:

There were quite a lot of peril scenes with Stargirl as well, in the whole showdown with Eclipso she was beaten, choked, and tossed around. I think it looked a little cheap the way she looked as she was possessed by Eclipso, but ok, no big thing.

It was great seeing all these characters coming together to defeat Eclipso. I was surprised that The Shade was still alive and that even all the three “evil” Crooks showed up.

Season 3 will be aired next year and I’m very curious to see which characters will still be around then and what roles they will play. Looks like Cindy really will be one of the good guys then, hopefully, then she will get a mask to her costume as all the other women are wearing one to protect their “secret” identities.

Seems like the Shade will be still around then, I guess Grundy might show up again, even he is “indisposed” for now.

Will Jade be still there? So far, her role was quite small.

And what about Starman and Rick? Will they play a role without powers?

And what about the bad guys? In the end scene, Mister Bones was shown for the first time.

But there are also the three Crooks, who now live next door to the Whitmores 😆 and Cameron might join the bad guys as well.

Well, looking forward to the new season….until then I might re-watch episodes 6 and 13 of this season once or twice 😉

————————————————–

And now some news on Batwoman!

The Flash will start his new season (8) on November 16 with the big “Armageddon” 5 episodes event as I mentioned in the past.

Now we have a poster for this:

Looking forward to this, especially…..you may guess….because of Batwoman and Mia/(the new) Green Arrow.

I will post about these Flash episodes here!

Stargirl – Season 2, episode 12

Well, episode 12 is pretty much the “let’s get ready for the boss fight” episode.

SPOILERS ahead! Watch the episode first!

It’s all about re-building the team while including new allies like Cindy(wonder how that will work out) and the original Dr. Midnite.

It was another entertaining episode, but nothing much happens in terms of action.

It is also ANOTHER episode without Stargirl and Wildcat, even they do technically show up, but only in visions.

And ok, Yolanda does grab her cowl and holds it in her hands…but that doesn’t really count as a Wildcat scene.

Some pictures:

Now as 12 episodes of 13 have aired…I think it’s safe to say that the storyline could have been told in far fewer episodes.

Like 7 or 8 in total perhaps. But that would have been too short for a CW season, so the writers took the storyline and “inflated” it a little.

It’s safe to say that there should be plenty of screentime for Stargirl and Wildcat in the last episode, BUT all in all the amount of Stargirl in this season was just way too little.

From the 12 episodes that aired so far….1(!) had a big amount with them and Stargirl was seen the last time in episode 7.

I hope season 3 will have (much) more screentime with the masked heroines.

But now….I’m excited for the last episode of this season.

I hope the whole Eclipso storyline will end in that one.

Feel welcome to leave your comment!

What do you think about this episode and/or this season so far?

Stargirl – Season 2, episode 11

…or as this post could also be named: Stargirl, season 2, episode 11

Yeah, as predicted…no Stargirl (or Wildcat) in this episode as well. Also… no color for most of the episode 😆

And how more and more absurd the loooooooooong absence of the title heroine in this show becomes….as a matter of fact….this was a good episode nonetheless!

SPOILERS ahead!

Normally I’m not a fan of black & white videos as the missing colors are…..”unsexy” for me.

But here there was at least a good reason to present the Shadowland in black and white, it makes sense.

It was good that we now had at least some action scenes, even without the masked heroines.

Much better than the episode before that had basically no action at all.

Some pictures:

The whole idea to have this shadowland where Eclipso was born and where all these people are stuck (willing or non-willing) is quite thrilling.

It will be very interesting to see the rescued Dr. Midnighter and Cindy now both working for the good guys.

And what will Beth’s role now be as the “original” Dr. Midnighter is now back?

Now they need to get Rick out of prison and find Yolanda who needs to be in her Wildcat outfit!

The Shade had a “nice” end as he sacrificed himself to free the three out of the shadowland. He was a good guy after all.

The trailer for episode 12 doesn’t show any masked ladies, but ok these trailers are only 20 seconds long.

We have now 2 episodes left this season….so I do think that we FINALLY get to see Stargirl and Wildcat again in the next episode.

The big, final battle with Eclipso is about to start….so my excitement for these episodes is quite high!

And PLEASE, some serious Stargirl/Wildcat screentime for these last two episodes.

Stargirl – Season 2, episode 10

Spoilers ahead!

Ok, I’m getting kind of really frustrated with this TV show now.

Another episode without Stargirl and Wildcat. The third in a row. The amount of Stargirl in “Stargirl” in this season is pretty….hilarious so far.

The episode feels much like a filler episode without nearly any action.

The horror elements are greatly reduced as well and we get some interesting backstory about Eclipso, the Shade, the shadow world, and the Diamond.

And now, with Courtney in that shadow world…. I bet that the next episode won’t have Stargirl and Wildcat in it as well. 🙁

The trailer suggests that as well.

I hope they “save” up a LOT of screentime for them for the final episodes 12 and 13 of this season.

I am looking forward to how the whole Eclipso story will end.

And please with Stargirl, Wildcat, and a LOT of action…

Some pictures:

Stargirl – Season 2, episode 9

Well, I could pretty much copy and paste most of my previous review for this one.

SPOILERS ahead!

It’s an interesting episode, I really love the horror elements!

But again…..no Stargirl or Wildcat in it! In the last 3 episodes, we had a little over 1 minute of Stargirl and Wildcat in it….in total…. 🙁

And the trailer for the next episode doesn’t make much hope for a change in the next episode….but perhaps…. after all, it’s only a teaser with 20 seconds of footage.

Yeah, the story works fine…but…I do want more Stargirl in “Stargirl”.

The whole episode basically focuses on Courtney and her family who are being manipulated by Eclipso as they have some hallucinations of their worst fear…more or less.

Also, we get some flashbacks of the JSA and how they decided to kill the previous host body of Eclipso and thereby disregarded their own number one rule.

Pat never told Courtney that and ….of course…. she is very much shocked by it.

Except for the flashbacks the whole episode basically plays in the Whitmore house. Yolanda, Beth, and Rick aren’t in the episode at all.

So, I was thrilled and entertained by the episode….but without the masked ladies….something is missing for me.

Some pictures:

Stargirl – Season 2, episode 8

First:

I updated the “Hall of Fame” with a new entry (15). If you checked the blog the last weekend it won’t be a new one for you, but it certainly deserves to be there.

Now, here is my short review of episode 8 of Stargirl (season 2):

SPOILERS ahead!

Another interesting and thrilling episode….BUT….and you know what comes now…….with NO scenes at all with the masked ladies.

Ok, well, Courtney is holding Wildcat’s cowl in her hands after Yolanda dropped her costume and cowl at Courtney’s place…but well, that doesn’t fully count.

After so much Stargirl and Wildcat in episode 6, we got practically no scenes with the masked ladies in the 2 episodes after that.

So, I really would like to see more of Stargirl in a TV show that is called “Stargirl” 😉

I want more Stargirl in “Stargirl”.

Sometimes it feels like a Batman movie where Batman has two scenes in it.

Some pictures:

But enough of that for now.

The episode focuses on Rick and Beth. They are both heavily influenced by Eclipso in different ways.

I like how he tries to manipulate them with their worst fears, that is really well played.

And that brat from hell is quite terrifying! I love the dark atmosphere and the horror elements of the episode.

The odds aren’t very good for team Stargirl at the moment.

Stargirl’s staff is still recovering, Courtney is really frustrated. Yolanda quit being Wildcat. Rick destroyed the hourglass beyond repair(?).

Beth won her “battle” with Eclipso for the moment, that was a victory much needed for the team and especially for her.

There are 5 more episodes in this season. At the moment my prediction/guess is that there will be very little or no scenes with Stargirl and her team in the next 2 episodes and that they then finally team up again to fight Eclipso in the last 3 episodes.

Here is the trailer for the next episode:

Stargirl – Season 2, episode 7

Spoilers ahead!

Well, after we got over 15 minutes with the masked ladies in the last episode as it had a massive fight scene with the bad guys….. we get quite the opposite this week.

The episode centers on Yolanda (aka Wildcat) and her guilt after she killed Brainwave in the season 1 finale.

It is a really good episode with nice horror elements.

….but in terms of the masked women in action….it offers nearly nothing.

Stargirl is in the picture for a few seconds and Wildcat only a little longer. Together it is less than a minute.

Some pictures:

Yolanda is so traumatized by the fact she killed Brainwave that she even decides to quit being Wildcat at the end of the episode!

But I bet that she will resume her role and costume pretty soon.

Interesting is the fact that it’s hard to say if it is Eclipso who is making her see things or if Brainwave is really taking over her mind more and more.

I would prefer the Eclipso option, that would make more sense to me.

Love how Eclipso is running around the town as this seemingly innocent boy but is manipulating people with his powers into doing evil things.

The trailer for the next episode isn’t very promising from my perspective as the episode seems to focus on Solomon Grundy. But ok, that’s just the teaser.

I hope for some more Stargirl action in the next one. Don’t think that Wildcat will appear in that one.

Stargirl – Season 2, episode 6

[1st post for today, one more to come]

Time to talk about episode 6 of Stargirl!

SPOILERS ahead!

SPOILERS ahead!

SPOILERS ahead!

Last week’s episode was already a really good one with finally real screentime with Stargirl, Wildcat, and co.

Episode 6 is even better and certainly has a big gamechanger!

Due to problems with Youtube, I won’t upload any Stargirl videos anymore, so some pictures and this text has to be enough.

Pictures first:

I increased the brightness of these pictures a little….

Ok, I liked a lot of things in this one!

A new masked villainess! Of course, every one of the good guys already knows who she is…..but well, it’s a nice addition! And I like her full face mask…just like an improved version of the one her father was/is wearing.

It’s soo odd that many of the bad and good guys wear masks….but for the most time, they all know who is under which mask. And the show NEVER shows any interactions of the masked folks with any civilians who seemingly don’t know about both teams.

It’s like there are two worlds in this show, the civilians and the unmasked alter egos of the heroes and villains…… and another one where there are the bad guys and the heroes.

But ok, enough of that, back to the episode.

The fight scene in the school is well-done and pretty long….I really enjoyed that one BIG time! Good stunt work and pretty creative as well 🙂

And damn, I know Eclipso would show up sooner or later…but what a debut!

Killing off two of the bad guys! Ok, perhaps there is some chance that Cindy may show up again….but it certainly doesn’t look like that!

His appearance now changes everything! It’s no longer some teenager in masks fighting some also young villains.

Now they have to face an incredible powerful……..well……monster that is seemingly so much stronger than everything they have encountered so far.

I wonder what Artemis will do now? Will Solomon Grundy show up again? Will they all team up with The Shade and the heroes to fight Eclipso?

After the pretty slow first 4 episodes….the last one and this one have me now fully “hyped up” for the rest of the season! 😉

Here is the trailer for episode 7:

Stargirl – Season 2, episode 5

I really like season 2 of Stargirl so far….but in terms of the screentime of the masked heroines….we got pretty little in the first 4 episodes.

Luckily there is plenty of Stargirl, Wildcat, and Dr. Midnite in this one! 🙂

In this post, you will find 2 videos with over 7 minutes of the masked ladies.

There is even a 2-minute scene with the unmasked Stargirl where she talks to her dad.

And when she isn’t wearing her mask…the scene doesn’t fully qualify for this blog 😉

Preview:

I really like the dark horror atmosphere that is building up this season.

And from what I heard….there is much more to come 😉

It’s very interesting how Eclipso lets them face their worst fears to manipulate them. I wonder how they will deal with that in the future!

I expected Wildcat to unmask herself as the loud noise was tormenting her but I’m glad that she had enough self-discipline to NOT take her mask off as that would be quite dangerous even at night in the school, someone could show up or cameras could be in place.

It still annoys me that basically everyone they encounter does know who they are under these masks….but well, hopefully, some folks will show up that don’t know their secret.

And still, even the bad guys know….I hope for a scene in which someone would unmask Stargirl or Wildcat…just to show them that they are “superior” or because they wanna see the unmasked face.

The storyline with Cindy wanna recruit Mike for the bad guys is promising, that could become potential pretty…..disastrous….. for the Whitmore family.

What is also interesting is that you now have basically 3 “camps” of villains right now:

  • Eclipso, the big, all-powerful force.
  • Then we have the Shade, who seems very much afraid of Eclipso.
  • And there is also Cindy and her new recruits.

I have the feeling that these 5 episodes of the season were only the foreplay and now things will really come in motion 😉

Here is the trailer for episode 6:

What do you think of this episode and the season so far?

Leave your comment below!

Stargirl – Season 2, episode 4 – ….well…. [+Batwoman stunt video]

[Post 1 of 2 for today]

Well, I could pretty much copy and paste my words from the review of episode 2.

In episode 1 we got less than 3 minutes of Stargirl and her team, without any action.

In episode 2 we got no masked woman on screen at all.

In episode 3 we got over 6 minutes with the team and at least action for half a minute.

In episode 4…..there are….23….seconds(!!) of Stargirl in it as she is prepping to leave her home. Yeah, that’s right, 23 seconds. 🙁

So far season 2 of STARGIRL had very, very, very little Stargirl (or Wildcat) in it.

Again the episode is interesting and I really like how the story is going in general.

What I don’t like is again that Stargirl and her team basically don’t have secret identities.

Spoilers ahead!

The Shade knows immediately who Stargirl is, most likely to the brilliant move that her father showed up with the team as they meet.

The Tigress and Crusher escape from prison and they know since the end of season 1 who is under these masks.

Sometimes I don’t know why they even are wearing these masks. So far we saw no interactions at all with any civilians who basically don’t know that they exist(?).

And all the villains learn their “not so secret”-secret identities really quick. 🙁

I wish that Stargirl and Co would have some random bad guys to beat up who at least wouldn’t know who they are.

I do like how Cindy is building up a team of villains, a new Injustice Society. Will be interesting to see how the different evil parties will interact with each other. Hard to say what the plan of the Shade really is.

The trailer for the next episode is actually really promising and shows only scenes with Stargirl and the others!

….so as I am a little disappointed so far….I’m pretty hyped for the next episode!

Things finally seem to start rolling in the action department. 🙂

Marshall Virtue posted this video, he is a/the stunt coordinator of the Batwoman show.
In this great video, you can see the pre-visualization of some stunts from seasons 1 and 2:

Pretty awesome video and an interesting behind-the-scenes look!

Stargirl – Season 2, episode 3 – finally some action!

I made an update on the Batwoman post below this one, check it out!

So, time to talk about episode 3 of Stargirl (season 2)!

After very little of Stargirl and her team in episode 1 and no scenes with them at all in episode 2….we FINALLY get a solid screentime with the masked ladies!

And we get some action and peril as well….but check out my 2 videos first!

Preview:

I really like The Shade as a villain so far….we know not much about him yet, but I like his style. And he surely seems to be pretty powerful that he could easily defeat the whole team.

They will have to find ways to defeat him…..and he won’t be the only villain they have to face.

The episode was pretty good, I could go without the whole magic pen and the Thunderbolt figure….but ok, I guess that might be an important factor later on when the bad guys wanna win him over to the dark side 😉

I read that this season will get pretty dark and I’m excited about it. I want the team to get tested to their limits and I prefer the dark(er) shows anyhow.

Of course, if I would be him and would have pinned them down like that….I might use these powers to yank their masks off as I am verrrry curious 😉

But on the other hand, it’s good to have a villain here that doesn’t know their secret identities from the start, I do hope that it stays like that for a while.

Perhaps later on he wants to find out who is behind these masks….and then PLEASE…..by removing their masks and not by some silly discovery as it happens WAY too often.

Or how about he attempting to unmask Stargirl or Wildcat? That would be quite awesome as well 😉

Looking forward to seeing how the plot unfolds. So far, we practically can only guess what the evil plan of the villains will be and how it all connects.

But with this episode…the season has really started for me!

Have you seen the episode already?

Feel welcome to leave a comment!

Stargirl – Season 2, episode 2 – (very short) Review

This will be an extra short review….because……well…..there isn’t much to talk about in the new episode.

Well, in terms of this blog at least.

Don’t get me wrong, it was an enjoyable episode that had some good scenes and built up the storylines further.

But in terms of action, the episode had very little and in terms of masked women…..the episode had NOTHING at all.

Actually, it was the first Stargirl episode ever without a masked woman at all….so I won’t post a video with this one.

In the first episode of this season, we had a short scene with Stargirl and her team right at the beginning without action…and that was it.

In this one, we have…..not even that.

The episode was basically there to introduce the new Green Lantern Jennifer and the villain The Shade.

All that was interesting but not insanely thrilling.

The episode ended with Courtney grabbing her staff and getting ready for action as Stargirl.

So, it’s safe to say that we finally get some action with Stargirl and her team in the episode next week.

Also, I am curious to see Jennifer’s costume and if it includes a mask.

And if yes, it’s hopefully a good one….

Stargirl – Season 2, episode 1 – Review

Finally, season 2 of Stargirl has now started and I wanna make my short review of episode 1!

Preview:

The bad guys have been defeated at the end of season 1 and are either dead, in prison, or missing.

Much like this entire episode, things are rather quiet now in Blue Valley.

Stargirl, Wildcat, Hourman, and Dr. Midnite are still patrolling the streets at night but there is nothing to do at all and all (except Stargirl) wanna take a break from superhero life.

The episode focuses on building around the personal problem of each of them.

Courtney (Stargirl) is so focused on being Stargirl and finding other ISA members that she fails at school.

Yolanda (Wildcat) is haunted by the death of Brainwave who she killed in the season 1 finale. But she can’t speak to anyone (outside the JSA) about it as that would endanger her secret identity.

Beth (Dr. Midnite) finds out that her parents are seeking a divorce and is troubled by not being able to interact with Charles, the AI from her goggles.

Rick (Hourman) is occupied with providing food to Solomon Grundy who is living in the woods now.

Building these backstories to the characters is important and I liked them except the one with Rick as I don’t understand why he is now caring about the monster that killed his parents. Yeah, he saw a “good” site on Solomon in the season 1 finale…but it’s still hard to believe how he changed from wanting to kill him to now providing buckets of chicken for him.

I love how passionate Courtney is about being Stargirl. She fully embraces her role.

Maybe a little too much…. as her school and social life comes too short.

There is very little action in this one….but well, it’s a typical first episode to a season.

Green Lantern’s daughter Jade has her first appearance in the only real action scene. So far hard to tell, how big her role will be.

I hope she will be a good addition to the good side. Of course, I also hope that her costume will include a mask….but we will see.

So, in terms of action or peril, the episode delivers very, very little. But it was an important one for the storyline.

And this connects me to the characters and is very important for the “immersion” (in my opinion).

If I don’t care about the characters…it’s a massive minus for a movie or TV show.

This episode was a good start, but certainly not one of my favorites.

Hopefully, the action will start rolling in episode 2.

Speaking of it….here is the trailer:

More Batwoman casting news

As the filming of season 3 of Batwoman is already underway, we get more casting news!

Creegan will play Marquis Jet. A sexy playboy who grew up in a lavish lifestyle, Marquis is too charming for his own good and wields his power with a ne’er do well attitude. He views life as one big joke and that sense of recklessness has a tendency to clash horribly with his no-nonsense mother Jada Jet. When he meets Ryan (Leslie), he sees in her a like-minded young go-getter who like him is just waiting for the right opportunity to make his mark on Gotham.

https://deadline.com/2021/07/batwoman-nick-creegan-season-3-series-regular-marquis-jet-1234800087/

Will be interested to see what he is up to and how that will most likely collide with Ryan and Batwoman’s plans! I guess he might become some sort of villain in the season.

Looking forward to seeing him in the show!

11 weeks until season 3 starts 🙂

Stargirl – Season 1, episode 13 – Stargirl and Wildcat in the final battle (of the season)

[Post 1 of 2 for today!]

So, this will be my last Stargirl post about an episode in 2020.

A little late this time, but there wasn’t much interest in it so far (on my youtube channel and Blog) so I guess it’s no so bad.

So, let’s start with some pictures of the final episode of season 1!

Preview (for both videos):

And here are the videos:

HEAVY SPOILERS ahead, I would recommend to watch the whole episode first!

That was a good finale for the season in my opinion.

Will be interesting to see which ISA members are really dead besides Brainwave.

No clue what happened to tigress. Sportsmaster may still be alive as well.

Dragon King have cheated death before, but I do think he is dead after all.

Icicle….well, he was crashed to bits…but maybe he can melt the single parts and put himself together like the the T-1000, even I doubt it.

Cindy is still there, Solomon Grundy and the Gambler too. Plus two new bad guys that are shown or mentioned. Need to do some background work on them.

I’m glad that Wildcat killed Brainwave, that was the right move, he deserved it big time.

I’m not happy that there are still some folks who know who Stargirl is, her secret identity isn’t really secret. Somehow I have the feeling that there will be always bad guys who know her secret

which makes her mask more decorative then concealing.

Also that there was no unmasking action at all in the whole season. Not even a self unmasking or unmasking attempt.

I had feared it would be like that since Brainwave found out that Courtney could use the staff and its powers in episode 1. Luckily he was silenced for a while but no one from the JSA took an effort to go for her mask in any situation.

Don’t get me wrong I relly enjoyed the whole season and the finale too as it delivered a lot of intense action and a lot of screentime for the masked heroines.

So far the public didn’t really took notice of the whole ISA and JSA, they fight their battle in the shadows pretty much. I wonder how that will develop in the future.

Blue Valley is such a picture perfect community with seemingly no crime to fight at all…. pretty much the exact opposite to Gotham.

So, I don’t think the JSA will really have to fight common criminals in season 2. Ok, it would be an unfair fight with their super powers, but Supergirl does it all the time, even you can’t compare the situation.

The end of the episode was a little too much….Stargirl and Stripe sitting on that surprisingly strong tower, the american flag was waving in the wind…..

Will be interesting too see how Starman will fit into the team in season 2. Will more heroes join the JSA?

What plans and members the new ISA will have? Who will be in it?

I do hope that there will be some unmasking action or secret identity struggle in season 2. That would be really great!

Also, how many episode will season 2 have? This one had 13, but now the show has moved to the CW, it may get more in season 2. Hard to say as it isn’t even clear when the second season will start.

P.S.:

Am I the only one who thought the big satelitte dishes and the gigantic undergorund base was worthy of a 60’s/70’s Bond villain?

Reminded me of it….especially as Gambler also had a cat as he was working on his evil plan 😆

You are welcome to leave a comment!

What do you think about season 1 in general and the final episode?

What do you hope to see in season 2?
