The masked art thief, some guards … and some heroes

This sounds SO GREAT on paper:

We have a female art thief who is fully masked! 🙂

We have a bunch of security guards who actually confront and battle the art thief! 🙂

And we have some heroes incl. 2 women (one masks herself) who also fight against the art thief! 🙂

…..but…..

ARRGGGGGHHHHH!

They start the episode with that fully masked art thief and of course, I think about the possibilities of a great unmasking or an attempt to unmask her.

I was 100% sure that the thief was a woman from the first seconds of the scene, even her baggy clothes and 3-part mask are disguising her perfectly.

But her eyes gave it away instantly.

The fight with the guards was nice but also weird.

Why is the guard shooting at an unarmed thief (Is Gotham in Texas? :lol:)

Why is the thief risking damaging the picture as she throws it around in the fight?

Her strategy wo wait for the guards is weird at first but gets explained later on.

She wants to know them all out to be able to escape without being pursued (if I understood that right).

A shame none of the guards manage to get into close combat with her. One reach for her mask would have already been awesome!

The confrontation with the Gotham Knights is a total disaster in terms of having an interesting unmasking.

It’s nice to see Harper masking herself! Why doesn’t Stephanie has some sort of mask? Damn.

I highly doubt the bullet would get deflected like that as it hits the car. I mean the car isn’t armored, the bullet would just blast through the outer frame and would get stuck there… in my opinion.

Now the art thief is wounded… the heroes arrive and she immediately gives up and unmasks herself.

DAMN!

And the reveal isn’t good as well as the masked super thief isn’t the stunner as I hoped.

Such promise… and then that! All that left me rather frustrated…

Ok, I do like the first scene, so it was nice… but another missed chance.

It’s good that the heroes here in the show use masks for the first time! I hope that they will do that regularly from now on, especially the women 😉

And hopefully, they will have real costumes and masks before the show is over.

That is the main reason I watch the show after all.

Updates: Gotham Knights, Stargirl, Batgirl movie

Some news for upcoming TV shows and the Batgirl movie!

Yesterday the CW had its “Upfronts” day where they presented the schedule for the upcoming TV seasons.

 

Stargirl

The 3rd season of Stargirl will debut in the fall, on Wednesdays at 8 PM.

So far it was supposed to be aired in the Summer, but as it is May already I already thought that that might not happen.

Ok, a little more waiting time on this season….

No news on a possible 4th season yet.

Gotham Knights

Yeah, as I mentioned season 1 was ordered…but…. it won’t be shown this year…but in 2023.

Quite a bummer and I don’t get it. The pilot is already filmed and until a fall release they would still have enough time to film more episodes… but for some reason…that won’t happen.

Wow, that is really…. lame… as it shows nothing.

Oddly enough Stephanie Brown isn’t even on it. And no costumes, just some young folks in lame clothes.

I hope the next promo material is a LOT more interesting.

Seemingly a teaser was shown at the event, but so far it isn’t available to the public.

Batgirl movie

The original plan was to make a “less expensive” movie to release it to HBO Max directly.

Now there are rumors that it might get a cinema release after the budget was upgraded.

Well, I hope that this movie will be good and that they make enough money with it so that more DC movies with a masked heroine in the lead will be made in the future!

Gotham Knights officially ordered!

The CW canceled more TV shows today, but they were no Arrowverse shows among them and none that I care about.

The important news from today is that they officially ordered the “Gotham Knights” season 1 after the filming for the pilot finished recently.

I can’t wait to see some costumes now…. PLEASE let them have good ones with proper masks!

Hope to get more info on which additional characters will be in this show!

The potential for masked women and unmasking is quite BIG.

Let’s hope the masked women here will have plenty of screentime and some “action” 😉

Gotham Knights: Casting news #2

More casting news from “Gotham Knights” the possible new CW show (so far only a pilot was greenlighted)!

And this time maybe the most interesting role was cast 🙂

I am talking about Stephanie Brown/Spoiler!

And who got the role?

29-year-old actress Anne Lore!

I was checking on social media and the first image I saw was this one:

The funny thing is… the next picture I saw of her…..and this was used in a twitter news post…was this one:

Well, I don’t know how anyone would use this picture to announce her as the new Stephanie Brown/Spoiler! 😆

I mean, that haircut, the clothes, the hat…… well…. doesn’t exactly… look flattering to her (or anyone).

Glad I didn’t see that as the first impression of her 😉

Well, I am VERY much looking forward to seeing how her role will be in the pilot and then (hopefully) later on in the show!

Of course, I am very excited about her getting into her costume to do so crime-fighting!

As I mentioned before…. I would love to see her in the full-face Spoiler mask, but I would bet a LOT against it, they won’t do that.

But if they would at least have the ninja-type half mask in a nice material…I would already be very happy!

Gotham Knights: Casting news #1

Time to post about some news regarding the “Gotham Knights” TV show!

So far, just a pilot was ordered by the CW which will be filmed next month. But finally, we are getting some casting news.

Fallon Smythe and Tyler DiChiara are playing Harper Row and Cullen Row.

Harper Row is sometimes also Bluebird in the comics:

So, I hope she will appear in a mask and costume in the show as well! 😉

Honestly, I didn’t know any of these actors until now, but looking forward to seeing what they can bring to the screen!

It would be SO great if she would be in the show! I especially love the full-face version of her mask…. but I think the chances they would use such a mask are verrrrry slim.

But the ninja-style mask is very interesting as well for me.

And the show has a LOT of potential for even more masked women in it! I mean perhaps even Batgirl could be in it!

But as they are making that Batgirl movie, I doubt that she also will appear in this TV show 🙁

I am looking forward to reading and seeing much more about this show as the potential is really BIG!

And my hope is that this show will get a green light for a season order and then season 4 of Batwoman will also be aired in the fall later in the year! That would be perfect!

In the worst case, this show wouldn’t get a season order and Batwoman would be canceled…. that would be quite a disaster for me.

Well, hope for more news soon!

Batwoman in the Flash Armageddon event – Update 2 + a “Gotham Knights” TV show will be made!

Just a quick post about the final fifth episode of the Armageddon event (Flash, season 8, episode 5).

Well, the bad news is…… Batwoman/Ryan didn’t return to Central City for another appearance, so she was only in (the last moments of) episode 3 and in episode 4.

The good news is that (new) Green Arrow finally showed up.

She had some nice scenes but without any secret identity issues at all, as they (team Flash) know who she is under her tiny mask and the villains don’t care (at least the hood adds a bit extra disguise).

I’m still a little sad that she didn’t get her own show as they canceled the Spin-off with her and the canaries.

So I guess this may have been her last appearance as Green Arrow unless she will make appearances in other future crossovers. 🙁

All in all the Armageddon event was …well….nice. Entertaining with some odd story aspects here and there.

Lately, they come up with way too many convenient crazy sci-fi gadgets whenever they are needed. There is basically no problem they won’t have some sort of gadget for.

The Flash is now on break until March 9.

Batwoman will return on January 12 and I’m very much looking forward to it!

Right now I’m careful as we know only little and I am afraid as hell that they will have a Batgirl in a Burnside costume with an eye mask or that “helmet” thingy (aka cowl without a chinstrap).

But it does sound really great to have another TV show that will have masked female vigilantes and villainesses in it!

Already there are speculations that this TV show might be some sort of successor when the Batwoman TV show would end.

If that really is the case it would be good to have some sort of replacement like this new show, and I (and others) would have something to look forward to.

But right now, in the middle of season 3 of Batwoman, there is no news about a 4th season….so far.

Perhaps they will make the 4th season and then Gotham Knights would be the next show after the 4th season has been aired.

Or both shows will run simultaneously at the CW.

Hopefully, there will be news soon.

DC Fandome 2021: Batwoman TV show, Batgirl movie, Gotham Knights, and “The Batman”

Yesterday I watched the DC Fandome from beginning to end and wanna talk about the most interesting parts for me and this blog.

Of course, I will include the videos here so you know what I am talking about:

 

Batwoman TV show:

I wasn’t expecting to see much new, and that’s exactly what was delivered 😉

Well, there was a season trailer, but that basically shows scenes that were either in episode 1 or already included in earlier trailers.

A sneak peak for episode 2 was included as well, but that was just a short scene with Ryan and Alice.

And there was a short segment in which Camrus Johnson was talking about becoming Batwing and what that means to him, but ok, that isn’t relevant for this site.

It was very nice to have Camrus Johnson, Rachel Skarsten, and Javicia Leslie as guests in the event.

Batgirl movie:

There was a very short segment about the upcoming Batgirl movie, check it out at 2:29:45

Well, no big reveal, but some interesting news:

  • Yes, she will wear a real cowl and not the damn eye mask!
  • Yes, she will have red hair!
  • That concept art is verrry promising. If that would be the final, real costume……it would be AWESOME!

 

At IMDB the movie is listed for 2022, I think that is very optimistic as they are still in pre-production, but I can’t wait to know more about the movie.

Ok, it’s “just” one movie and not a Batgirl TV show…but I am very excited for it.

My main concern, for now, is the costume. It’s good that they will use the cowl and not the eye mask. I fear they will use the purple Burnside costume which isn’t exactly sexy.

And I really home the cowl has a chin strap, unlike one of the new versions where it basically is more like a helmet.

I would choose the black costume from the Arkham video games…. or the version from “Batman and Robin” but with a cowl with chin strap. 😉

Of course, the script is also VERY important and I hope Christina Hodson has a good one in the making.

This is basically the worst Batgirl costume available.

Thank god, I saw her in another costume in promo pictures and after all, you can choose different costumes in such video games.

I’m looking forward to this game! I hope it gets anywhere close in quality to the Arkham Games.

The Batman

Nice trailer! Ok, I’m looking VERY much forward to this one!

It will be very different from the existing Batman movies….if that is a good thing or not….we will know in March next year.

I am (still) not sure about Robert Pattinson as Batman… the only movie I ever saw with him is “The Lighthouse” in which he showed some really good acting skills.

My main concern now is the Catwoman in this one (surprise! 😉 )

Yeah, I know she is in her very early Catwoman career and that is not her “final” costume.

But….this makeshift costume and shredded ski mask…. look….rather……awful …in my opinion.

And another issue for me is her height. I like tall women, and she is not only small, she is really tiny with 1,57m (5 feet 2 inches).

The combination of her height, that short haircut and her “costume” doesn’t work for me. At least judging from the trailer.

There are two scenes with her that I like in the trailer. Selina exiting the car in these boots and fishnets….that is sexy. And with these heels, she looks better in several ways.

The scene where she touches Batman’s cowl and asks who would be under it is quite nice as well.

I really hope that they don’t learn their secret identities as it happens normally in the movies/TV shows….

It would be really great if there would be some unmasking action between these two 😉

Will be interesting to see how she will portray this iconic character! It will at least be a better portrayal as in a certain movie from a crazy french director.
