Batwoman in the Flash Armageddon event – Update 2 + a “Gotham Knights” TV show will be made!

Just a quick post about the final fifth episode of the Armageddon event (Flash, season 8, episode 5).

Well, the bad news is…… Batwoman/Ryan didn’t return to Central City for another appearance, so she was only in (the last moments of) episode 3 and in episode 4.

The good news is that (new) Green Arrow finally showed up.

She had some nice scenes but without any secret identity issues at all, as they (team Flash) know who she is under her tiny mask and the villains don’t care (at least the hood adds a bit extra disguise).

I’m still a little sad that she didn’t get her own show as they canceled the Spin-off with her and the canaries.

So I guess this may have been her last appearance as Green Arrow unless she will make appearances in other future crossovers. 🙁

All in all the Armageddon event was …well….nice. Entertaining with some odd story aspects here and there.

Lately, they come up with way too many convenient crazy sci-fi gadgets whenever they are needed. There is basically no problem they won’t have some sort of gadget for.

The Flash is now on break until March 9.

Batwoman will return on January 12 and I’m very much looking forward to it!

Right now I’m careful as we know only little and I am afraid as hell that they will have a Batgirl in a Burnside costume with an eye mask or that “helmet” thingy (aka cowl without a chinstrap).

But it does sound really great to have another TV show that will have masked female vigilantes and villainesses in it!

Already there are speculations that this TV show might be some sort of successor when the Batwoman TV show would end.

If that really is the case it would be good to have some sort of replacement like this new show, and I (and others) would have something to look forward to.

But right now, in the middle of season 3 of Batwoman, there is no news about a 4th season….so far.

Perhaps they will make the 4th season and then Gotham Knights would be the next show after the 4th season has been aired.

Or both shows will run simultaneously at the CW.

Hopefully, there will be news soon.

The new Green Arrow and the Canaries

As the Arrow TV show has now officially ended, I wanna post one more video from it!

In this video you will see the cast of the future spinoff show. It is not greenlighted yet, but this scene was from the second last episode of Arrow, which is supposed to be a backdoor pilot of this future show which would include at least 3 masked women in the main cast!!!

But first, I wanna write down some thoughts on Arrow. This show founded the Arrowverse. I watched it from the start and was quickly hooked. I liked the dark atmosphere, the characters and the action. Season 1 was realllllly good and season 2 was even better for me since it introduced the Canary, the masked Huntress and also Ravager. Season 3 was good also.

With Season 4 the show started a downward trend for me. Too many sidekicks, less interesting villains and too much focus on Olicity (“Felicity + Oliver” for those who don’t know the term).

But I was and am still a big fan. I watched every episode, but the episodes after season 4 or 5 only once.

But one great show paved the way for other interesting and great shows: The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, Black Lightning …..and …… finally BATWOMAN!

I will always be thankful for Arrow and what it started….the ARROWVERSE! Without Arrow I couldn’t write about the show that fullfilled an old dream of mine. I always wanted a(nother) TV show with a (properly) masked woman in the lead role! And it took nearly 20 years after “Black Scorpion” and “Queen of swords” were aired with only 1 season each.

Batwoman doesn’t only have the best mask/cowl a women has ever worn in a TV show or movie….it is the first show that actually made it to a 2nd season (and hopefully many more)!

Back to Arrow! In this scene we have the new green Arrow Mia Smoak and the 2 Canaries (Laurel Lance and Dinah Drake) in action!

Yeah, I would really like to see more of these 3 in the future! Ok, as you (should) know by now, I am not the biggest fan of eye masks. But having 3 masked women as the lead actresses of a TV show….is a great thing for starters! Of course that show needs proper storylines, good action and interesting villains.

 I really hope this show will start in the new CW season in the fall! Especially if there is some real secret identity struggle involved 😉

Green Arrow & the Canaries

Tomorrow Friday I will post about the last episodes from the big CRISIS crossover, but today…

… I found these promo pictures for the Arrow episode “Green Arrow & the Canaries” which will be shown on the 21st:

….well…….in this episode there will be 3(!) masked women! The new Green Arrow Mia Smoak and 2 canaries (Laurel / Dinah).

This episode will be the pilot episode of the possible Spin-off TV show that might start later this year.
Due to time traveling all 3 women will still be young in that 2040 setting (not like I feared).
So, that TV show would have 3 masked women in the main roles!
Only eye masks…but still…..that would be so fantastic!
Especially with Katherine McNamara (in the last picture) as the new Green Arrow!!!
Oh man…. the golden Age of masked heroines in movies and TV would become even more golden. 🙂

Superhero tv-shows and their problem with masked women

Time for some rant! I saw episode 3 of the new arrow season and I was disappointed. Than I saw the preview for episode 4 of the new flash season and I was disapointed (again)… not that the episode or the preview sucked, no, that wasn’t the problem.

[minor SPOILERS ahead]

But this is:

Damn it!

The flash has a real mask, a rubber cowl that provide some real cover and hides his identity quite well. And it can provide a great unmasking (which it did already)! An unmasking were you NOT just pull off the mask with two fingers. For this mask you need to rip it, to tear it. His mask is even connected to his suit. It’s a great design!

But as always in the new tv-shows flash and arrow, the women doesn’t get such a mask. No!

The canary, the huntress, the black canary, and all the other masked woman (except ravager) wear eye masks. And catwoman in TDKR too 🙁 .

The 2 canaries had at least “big” versions  that hide some parts of the face. And the (first) canary wore a wig in addition. That was a nice combination to hide her secret.

But why do you put on such a mask as the new girl from “team green arrow”? (left picture) It’s moronic!!!

I guess it’s the old: “She’s a pretty girl, let’s present her face and give her a mask that hides NOTHING!” – idea from the producers. If you love women with masks and their unmaskings…it is so frustrating!!!

Well, I love these shows and the fact that they are quite a lot of masked women in it lately. But it would be so much better with some real masks!

Because such tiny eye masks….what are they for? They hide noting, provide no safety at all and are not sexy.

But enough from me, what’s your opinion on this?

Masks off! #9 – Green Arrow (partially) unmasks Batgirl by ripping her mask!

For issue number 9 from “Masks off” it’s time again for Batgirl (Cassandra Cain)! She gets into a fight with Green Arrow, an arrow rips a little hole into her mask! He takes the opportunity and grabs her mask, stretching the material, ripping the hole wider to see the face under the full face mask! At the end Batgirl is partially unmasked….
