Batgirl: Scales of Justice [Fan Film]

Today I wanna present a Batgirl fan film that just premiered this week.

I watched it yesterday and I think it deserves to be the topic of the weekly post here.

And this is a Batgirl film that wasn’t canceled! 😉

At least not yet… don’t know if DC/Warner will let it stay on YouTube or not.

In the past the fantastic “Batgirl: Spoiled” series was stopped after the second episode for example, even these episodes are still available on YouTube.

(That’s why I save every video I think is really good and that I wanna rewatch)

If you have a little over 30 minutes… watch it!

Official Synopsis: Following the murder of Jason Todd, Barbara Gordon must choose between her life and her aspirations of finding and killing The Joker, Jason’s murderer.

Here is the video (not my upload):

Watch the film and then continue!

Wow, that was a dark ending… not really surprising… if you know the comics.

Personally, I don’t like that aspect of the “Killing Joke” as it is such a trauma for Barbara and banned her from being Batgirl for a long time.

I think the movie is shot really well and the acting is quite good as well.

I mean it’s a fan film that was crowdfunded with a little over 2.000$ and is over 30 minutes long, quite a length for such a film.

Her costume is just okay… but I really like the Batgirl cowl they used. A quality cowl, especially if you just have such kind of budget.

Kendall Felix, who plays Barbara and Batgirl, also directed and wrote this film.

The short fight scenes here aren’t really exciting, but that is …again… a money issue I would say.

Not surprisingly… Batgirl has quite a lot of screen time here, but also Barbara as well.

I like the self-unmasking and the re-masking in this one.

Also that she tosses her cowl on the ground as she enters the apartment in the end.

Even that meant that she was standing unmasked in the hallway… quite risky. 😉

Funny that this fan film also has the trope of heroes standing around unmasked on rooftops at night.

I wouldn’t recommend that….

Another plus point is the music in this one, very fitting with a heroic tune as soon as the movie title appears.

What do you think of the movie?

Feel free to leave a comment!

Also, you should leave a LIKE on the video.

I certainly would like more fan films like that!

Catwoman VS Black Widow! Check out this animated 3D fan film!

Thanks to a member of our Behind the Mask forum, I discovered this gem, check it out and enjoy:

Watch the video before you continue!

Well….. WOW! I must say that is a VERY spectacular fan film!

This isn’t an aminated video from a big studio but the result of the work of just a few folks.

I love that Catwoman is in it and Black Widow is a good opponent for her… even I would have preferred Batgirl 😉

The effects are well done, all the sweat, rain and thunder, and so on.

The effects really add to the overall atmosphere.

The fight scene is well-choreographed and amazingly long.

Also, a big bonus for me is the costume damage! Normally these costumes seem indestructible in the movies which is quite annoying.

Especially the aspect that the Catwoman eye mask gets damaged twice is really great for me, as I love mask damage which happens so rarely!

A nice aspect is that Catwoman then gets fully unmasked! Also, I always prefer if the opponent slowly yanks or rips that mask away.

A shame that the two aren’t talking a little more, especially since some comments about Catwoman’s secret identity would have been great as her mask gets damaged more and more.

I imagine a Catwoman with a cowl fighting the classic Batgirl and then these two would battle to see how can destroy the mask of the opponent first 😉

As you can see on their Youtube channel they will make another battle between these two… looking forward to it… BIG time!

Fan films recommendations: “Batman: Dawn of Fear” + “SPIDER-GWEN”

Today I wanna make a quick post to recommend two Fan films (not my finds)!

First of all:

“Batman – Dawn of Fear”

The camera is a little too shacky (no tripods?) here and there and the Catwoman costume could be better (it’s ok).
But a LOT is really good here! The acting is solid, fights aren’t bad, love how much Catwoman is in it.
And Batman’s cowl is awesome!

Hope that Barbara then will make her debut as Batgirl in the next one…if they make another one! (in the black costume and cowl)

Second of all:

Spider-Gwen (a fan film by Chris R. Notarile)

Ah, FINALLY a new Chris R. Notarile video with a masked woman!
I love his early works with the Catwoman videos he made.

A shame that he KNOWS and she gives up and unmasks herself.
But she looks great in the suit and hopefully, he will make more movies with her or other masked heroines.

Check out these brilliant Spider-Woman edits!

I got another recomendation for you folks!

This friendly guy contacted me some weeks ago, and finally I can feature his stunning work on this blog.

Basically he edits scenes from the short-lived animated Spider-Woman TV show.

And he edits these scenes in such a way that they become far better than in the original version!

You (should) know how many opportunities to unmask a heroine are passed by the bad guys….which is really frustrating!

But, he masterfully improves these scenes and provides a much better outcome 😉

Here I wanna present some highlights of his work:

I love it when the villain actually rips the mask off and thereby destroys it. My favorite sort of unmasking!

My favorite video is the first one above as Spider-woman is still concious and reacts to the threat of the unmasking.

The original scene is a great example how to screw up! Kingpin has her tied up and a camera is pointed at her. And what does he do?

He (just) says that Spider-woman is Jessica Drew! But he doesn’t UNMASK her on camera!!!!! WHY???? That would be the best possible thing he could do…..

But luckily for us, Orb305 has produced this outcome!

Check out his youtube channel for MORE videos, and subscribe to it so that you don’t miss his future videos!

Spider-Woman reloaded on Youtube

Also you can check out his BLOG for more:

Looking forward to see more of his work!

Perhaps he will improve scenes with other heroines as well?

Like Batgirl, Batwoman, Catwoman? 😉

Two new Batgirl fan-movies! [Friday night in Gotham][Batgirl: Destiny calls]

Hey folks, I wanna present two Batgirl fan-movies that you really must see if you haven’t already. (Thanks to the guys who presented them at Behind the mask!)

The first one is Friday night in Gotham:

And here is the video:

Really well made fan movie! And pretty great fight scenes for such a limited budget! 🙂

It seems like they will make more Batgirl movies!

And the second movie that I wanna show you folks is:

Batgirl: Destiny calls

And here is the movie:

I love the dark tone of this movie! Batgirl doesn’t just beat these goons easily, she has to suffer to win it!

Personally I don’t really like that Batgirl “burnside” costume…but at least she wears some sort of cowl that hides something.

Please support these filmmakers by hitting the like button and/or commenting to these videos!

Your opinion about these movies?

Batgirl VS Killer Moth

This one is a real short one. But it is well made and has Batgirl in it!

So, here is a short movie (thanks to NS for finding it) with Batgirl VS Killer Moth:

And here is the video:

And she has a nice cowl… 🙂

even if it has no chin strap 🙁

The Catwoman – Fan Film

Thanks to two guys I saw a new Fan Film about Catwoman with the simple title “The Catwoman”. But watch it before I say anything about it:

I like the dark tone of it. And I like the costume, really good work on it! The story is well made for such a short movie. The action could have been more and perhaps better executed, but it’s a very sexy scene for me.  Too bad there wasn’t an unmasking scene in it. That would have been great, but anything with a really sexy, masked heroine in it is something rare and very special to me.

I don’t understand why Black Mask knows that Selina is under the cat mask, does he recognize her with the mask on? Well in that case her mask would have failed the test…. 😉

As I heard the filmmaker will make more catwoman fan movies in the future, that sounds great to me!

What do you think about the movie?
