Batgirl movie (Joss Whedon) – #1

Well, I guess you may have heard already that Joss Whedon will direct an official DC movie with Batgirl in the main role.

For me that news hit me like a hammer. GREAT! GREAT! GREAT! Since ages I had hoped they would make such a movie…and then I read the news. I couldn’t believe it at first.

Ok, that movie won’t come out this year or next year. Perhaps 2019? But no matter when it will hit the screens…I am SO excited about it!

The last time I was so excited about a future movie was as TDKR was in planning and it was announced that Catwoman would be in it. I read every preview, watched every trailer a dozen times, tried to get as many pictures as possible. And Catwoman only had a small role in that movie. Her suit was great, but her mask was…pretty terrible. She did not have a secret identity at all, nearly everybody knew who was behind the mask. No unmasking action at all 🙁 .

That was really annoying for me! After all the anticipation I was a little disappointed at first after I left the movie theater.

However, despite all these facts, I love that movie and I love Anne Hathaway as Catwoman.

And now there will be a Batgirl movie 🙂

Batgirl was always my favorite heroine. And she will have the main part in that movie!!! I can’t imagine right now, how much more excited I will be when more facts to this movie will be released.

  • Who will be under that mask? Who will play this role and will (most certainly) become a legend for me?
  • How will the costume look? What about the mask?
  • What will the story?
  • Which villains will be in it? May be Catwoman? Or other hot villainesses?
  • Will they include other female heroine in it? Like Spoiler? Or the Huntress?

This movie has big potential to become my ultimate “hall of fame”-movie. I guess I will get some serious (heart-)problems when the first trailer is released…. 🙂

It seems like Whedon will take the Barbara Gordon-Batgirl version from the “New 52” Storyline. Great news! I want a serious batgirl movie and not that damn new “helmet”-batgirl version from the new comic run (that sucks btw.!).

Regarding the costume:

Let’s see how this epic movie will develop throughout the next months/years. I can’t wait for more news!

For today we have 2 different catwomen and 2 different cosplayers!

The Batman Returns version and TDKR version. Which one do you prefer and why?

Close call, but I would choose the costume from Batman Returns.

Or better: I would combine the mask from Batman Returns with the TDKR suit 😉

Catwoman – Cosplay #2

Time for more great cosplay! Catwoman strikes again…. this time in the TDKR Catwoman outfit… (not my favorite one, but sexy²)

My opinion: WOW²!!! I don’t think it can be any better than this…what a great cosplay! Really well done costume, and damn: I have to say it: sexy as hell! 🙂

My opinion about….. Catwoman and her costume in TDKR (aka realism VS sexyness)

Hey folks, just wanna share some of my thoughts on the Catwoman in TDKR (The Dark Knight rises). Maybe a little late, but hell, my blog is only 2 days old…

The costume:

Well, it’s damn…..sexy, that’s for sure!  🙂

And Anne Hathaway looks really stunning in it…

The suit itself seems like a realistic (useable?) outfit for a burglar as catwoman, but…

Contra:

let’s start at the buttom: The killer overknee-boots are really…unrealistic². Not a good choice for an agile, sneaky burglar. Open, long hair? Well, looks certainly good, but a big weak point in combat, or? And the worst part: The MASK! Damn, I hate these eye masks! It’s not a crappy eye mask like the thousands used in all the crappy superheroines clips (99%) that are floating around in the internet.

But nonetheless:

1) Masks should create a secret identity!

Eye masks simply don’t provide that…good, Anne Hathaway’s mask covers at least parts of her nose, but nonetheless nearly everybody could ID her without problems.

2) Masks should be sexy!

With her mask there is no sexy mystery…you simply see too much. With a sexy cowl/mask (like the one from Jim Balent’s Catwoman or this one) she could have that sexy secret. And you could perform a nice unmasking struggle/fight 😉

Christopher Nolan always pronounced how important realism is for him.

So he erased Catwoman’s whip… 🙁 He deleted her claws…. 🙁 He didn’t want her to have a classic cat mask with the iconic cat-ears, his idea was that such cat ears would be unrealistic…..? Instead the costume department added these night goggles that look like the cat ears when they are on top of her head. Well I tink the night goggles are of course a useful gadget for a burglar as her, but she could easily have that feature in her cowl/mask.

Next he added these sexy boots with high heels, her open hair, her tiny mask….well, what happened to your drive for realism Mr. Nolan?

No whip, no claws, not cat mask…… but these “practical” burglar boots, open hair and a tiny useless mask…. weird!

<–Here is a catwoman outfit I found on the net. It has a real mask with the cat ears. It covers the face much better (should be enough).

It is much more “realistic”. It has “normal” boots, a useable suit, the whip and maybe even the claws (?). With the right materials and the right actress in it would be sexy as well.

In my opinion a far more fitting costume as the one Mr. Nolan approved.

What do you folks think about it? Feel free to comment the hell out of this post…

*Edit*: But besides that I love Nolans batman movies. Great suff!
