[MINOR SPOILERS ahead, I recommend that you watch the episode(s) before you continue]
Note: Please excuse my not very well written reviews on the first episodes, it gets better as I get more experience in writing them!
Also, in later reviews you will find more and better screenshots and the videos will be in full HD instead of HD ready
After the little rushed pilot episode, this one feels like a “normal” episode. There are still some flashbacks to fill in some of the many gaps that the first episode left open. I am pretty sure that we will get more of them to learn more about the past of the figures, especially Kate’s.
The episode is centered around the relationship between Kate and Alice/Beth and establishes the relationship. Kate wants to be sure if Alice is her long lost sister while the Crows target Alice and want to put her down for good.
All in all, I really like the episode. As expected now the story really gets going. The action between Kate and Alice is well done and shows this pretty unique setting. Kate wants to save her sister while the “Batwoman part” in her wants to put Alice down.
There are several highlights for me in this episode.
1) Kate meets Alice near their old favorite place. Great atmosphere and interesting dialogues!
2) Chuck visits Mary in a really good “Shining” homage. The only thing that was missing is him saying “Here is….CHUCK(Y)!” with his head in the damaged door 😉
3) Batwoman saves Alice from drowning …and thereby Alice finds out who is hiding under that mask (very close eye contact). Cool Gadgets!
4) Kate finds a hint that Alice knows now that she is Batwoman. A cool bat and a great reference to the comics (“You have your father’s eyes”)
5) The revelation at the end (Catherine). That will get interesting! What is she up to?
Like in the first episode I really enjoy the score! Helps really to push the dark atmosphere.

(3,5 out of 5)
Some nice scenes! A self unmasking in the Batcave (short cut, the cowl is already elevated from her head).
Another one found out who Batwoman really is (underwater scene). And nice “mask peril” as cops close in on a knocked out Batwoman. And also “secret identity talk with Sophie and at the very end.
Batwoman screen time: 06:05 Minutes (long cut) – 04:48 Minutes (medium cut)
“Mask action” (highlighted if yes): – attempted unmaskings – forced unmaskings – self unmaskings (without witness) – self unmaskings (with witness) – unmaskings –
mask damage – “mask talk” (incl. “secret identity talk”) –
Who knows her secret identity by now?:
For sure: 2
Luke Fox as her “tech guy” who equips her (Sophie may suspect something…but not sure about that) – (since ep1)
(Sophie suspects something…but isn’t sure about it) (since ep1)
*NEW* + Alice (recognized Kates eyes under the Batwoman cowl) – (since ep2)
Sexy “mask-related” -scenes:
Sophie asking Kate if she is the “Batman” who saved her.
Alice is very close to Batwoman’s face underwater. She thereby finds out who she is!
Batwoman knocked out while police closing in on her.

UPDATE February 09, 2021: I had to remove a song from the video as the copyright owner didn’t want it to be on Youtube. Quite odd, but this way the video can at least stay here. So, if you wonder why there is no music in the latter part of the video…that’s the reason.
