Is it worth it?

[2nd post for today] Hey folks, I am wondering if this blog is worth the time and effort I put into it… With my job I earn only little money and so I wanna get some extra cash out of my two blogs. And I am talking about around 100$ (for both blogs together) per month. That is not so much…

I kicked out the AD-links and established the infolinks. Right now I trying the different formats they offer. I don’t wanna have too much advertising on the page so I don’t use every format they are offering. The banner ads from different companies didn’t work, the income was ridiculous. Infolinks has improved over the last days, but still I’m not satisfied at all.

Some guys click on the amazon links on the right side. But according to the stats not one bought anything. That is sad. I mean I know that nearly everybody buys something from them from time to time. It costs you only some seconds to click on the link here and I get some money out of it. But it seems to be a big problem for many to help someone.

Right now I make 95% of the money from the youtube-channel. And I guess 90% of that money would come in without my blogs….

Of course I love the feedback (comments) to the videos. And sometime some folks even write an email with recommendations. That is cool and helps me to find new material and motivates me to go on with the blogs. But when I see how many views there are and how less feedback it returns… that can be frustrating too.

Right now I don’t know how this will develop, but I would like a little more support (comments, mails, use the amazon-links).

  1. I enjoy the work that you put in….but maybe you should scale it back to only 1 post every 2 weeks (2 Posts a Month)…so it doesn’t feel like a chore to do the website. And plus, you won’t have to worry about not finding new material.

I felt the last format before this current one worked for me best. It was the ads that sled in from the left and right side of the screen. You clicked the x button and the ads vanished.

    • Right now it’s only one ad in the centre instead of the two that sled in. It seems that this one ad brings more money, and you only have to hit one x button…. But I’m still figuring out the best way.

  2. I can understand your frustration. I’d probably feel exactly the same way as you if our positions were reversed.

The only thing I’d say is, in life, no one owes us a living. People are intrinsically selfish and only really care about themselves. The trick is, to do something that appeals to the most amount of people and fulfils some sort of want/need of theirs. That’s how you get rich; helping other people to achieve their selfish goals.

Unfortunately, a blog about a specific fetish isn’t really going to make you much money in the long run.

If it’s causing you more hassle and heartache than it’s worth, maybe it’s time to think about giving up on it. Life is too short and precious.

Don’t get me wrong, I’d miss this blog if it were to disappear. I appreciate the work you put into it. But you need to think about yourself first. If you’re doing this just for the money, well, there must be easier ways to make $100 a month.

If this a labour-of-love and you enjoy doing it, perhaps it would be best to forget about the money aspect. Sure, see if you can include a few cash-generating links that will make you a bit of money. But if it’s semi-serious money you’re looking for on a monthly basis, I’d suggest a new plan outside of this webpage.

    Good luck!
