Yeah, I don’t like that her mask (and suit) is magic, but I love that that mask can still be severely damaged like that.

Still a cool image as she “re-powers” herself, and her mask is intact again.

The mask damage was done really well… with parts of her face showing while she just might still be concealed just enough to keep her identity secret.

And I generally like it when costumes and masks are torn and damaged when the wearer was in a heavy fight.

Sadly, the scene where her mask is damaged is pretty short.

Still a great “mask damage” scene for my taste.

It’s time for a new great scene from the comic books!

In this one, Batgirl (Cassandra Cain) will get into a fight that won’t be too good for her mask

Damn, these magic…. things…. really screw up her mask big time!

Her mask is perfect for such mask damage scenes, as it fully covers her face, and the material seems quite thin.

I love that she then pulls off a reserve mask to cover her face again, she is well prepared

Also, as a bonus, she then removes the lower part of her mask by pulling it up… and then pulls it back again.

I appreciate that she doesn’t (fully) unmask herself even when she is safe with these guys.

She stays in character and keeps her mask on, very good!

Quite some mask action for just a few pages!

Catwoman gets (partially) unmasked during a fight! [Masks off! #53]

4 weeks ago, I posted some pictures from a new Catwoman comic book in which she got unmasked during a fight.

Just one issue later, there is another fight… and again(!)…someone grabs into her mask!

A very interesting development…

Ok, I don’t know if the writer is into unmaskings, or it is just a coincidence… but I love how the guys are going for her mask when they fight her!

This guy is only partially successful in unmasking her, but I love how he grabs into her mask and stretches the fabric

I think the mask could stay on her head with a yank like that, but it’s quite off how it (mostly) pops back into place like that.

The fabric also doesn’t rip, so it must be quite strong (enough).

He certainly doesn’t play around as he hits her quite hard several times.

I would love to know why he goes for her mask, as everyone seems to know who this Evie person is, who is Catwoman here.

Does he think it would weaken her if he unmasks her? Is that his way of dominating her? Or did it happen by accident/at random?

Hard to say…

It’s also interesting that neither he nor she comments on the unmasking attempt in any way… quite a shame

Still, a great scene as in 99.9% of the fight scenes with a masked woman… the mask gets ignored or is completely invincible to damage.

These pages are from “Catwoman 74” (2025) from the current series.

Issue 75 only has a flashback story in it, so I hope for issue 76 for an unmasking… even I BET she is already unmasked and wakes up tied up somewhere

Batgirl and Robin get gassed and forced to fight each other! [Masks off! #51]

For today I have a really long sequence from 2 comic books that should interest you as well

Batgirl and Robin are our masked heroes here and there is plenty of sexy aspects in this one for me…. and hopefully for you as well!

Well, so… what do I love about this one?

First, they get attacked with gas. They react and pull out some oxygen masks/devices.

But… that is not enough, as this gas works with skin contact.

Batgirl is protected much better with her full suit and mask, but eventually, the gas gets through the fabric of her sexy latex (? – at least in my mind) suit.

I would have preferred if the gas would have worked more “traditionally” and the goons would have managed to yank off the oxygen masks/devices of the two.

But still…. a great peril how Batgirl continues to fight until she collapses.

They get tied up and the threat of unmasking them appears…. I love how Penguin and the other guys talk about unmasking them …and who would do it and so on

Such a predicament for the two masked heroes…..

Luckily for them, they don’t act and just talk about it endlessly… like a Bond villain who wants to kill him.

Penguin even has his hand on one of the ears of Batgirl’s cowl, but she is lucky he gets stopped.

Then they have to fight each other… another great idea! I mean they must be careful not to unmask each other by accident.

Especially as Robin punches Batgirl in the face repeatedly, but the fabric doesn’t rip, so she can still hide behind her mask.

Interestingly her mask does get damaged on the cover of the Batgirl comic book, as some fabric seems to tear off her mask.

She gets touched by that goon and by Penguin and plays dead.

She is very lucky again as none of them try to unmask her…. quite odd… as they MUST be curious to see how she looks like beneath that mask!

Then the guys turn against Penguin and they can both escape with their secret identities intact!

Quite a long scene with these two… and a lot of interesting aspects.

Time for a new “Masks off” post, where I present (mask-related) scenes from the comic that I really like!

Ok, 2 masked women with cool masks are already great!

Their masks disguise them perfectly, unlike many other masks in the genre.

I love how Nix is rather keeping her mask in place as she presses it against her face with one hand.

One strap that holds her mask is ripped… and it seems that that was exactly what Green Arrow wanted.

She thinks her mask will fall and expose her face, so she uses one hand to secure it.

By doing that she has only one arm left to fight him, which is her downfall.

I do love her determination to keep her secret identity!

And then Green Arrow pulls so hard on Rochev’s mask that the straps break and he thereby swiftly unmasks her.

A great unmasking!

I left out some pages in between that didn’t feature her… can’t post too much of it….

Well, what I would give to have these scenes in a movie or TV show!

Her outfit is really sexy… and that wig and full face mask is a great disguise. And she even thought of contact lenses in a different eye color, nice detail!

Ok, in a comic you can’t build in that many face details compared to reality or a live-action movie.

But I love how her mask gets totally ripped during the fight

A great unmasking and reveal!

Spider-Gwen gets unmasked by a dinosaur (!?!) [Masks off! #48]

Time to post about this scene that is from last year.

In this one, we have several women in costumes/masks who are battling some sort of dinosaur skeleton…

Ok, first of all…. I am really NOT a fan of those “fancy” costumes/masks that are powered by technology or magic and just show up or disappear like that.

Really uncool…. I rather prefer “normal” cloth for masks as they have to be “manually” removed then.

What I do like here is that her mask is slowly disintegrating and is revealing more and more of her face! Quite a sexy transformation in this case.

Especially the big panel where her left eye is showing and her blonde hair is popping out of the mask

And I do LOVE mask damage and it looks as if her mask was just ripped open….

Sadly this whole unmasking is just the side-effect and the monster doesn’t care about her secret identity.

But… all in all a good scene!

An old classic that needs to be on this blog!

Ok, there is too much text on these pages for a comic and I am not the biggest fan of the art style.

But… we do have a lot of secret identity talk and thoughts plus an actual unmasking!

Ok, it’s not completely clear if she intended to unmask her or just tried to stop her from getting away… I would say the latter.

Also, I think it’s a little odd that Spider-Woman thinks “My Wig!” instead of “My Mask!” but ok… just a detail.

A fine example of how such a wig, attached to the mask… can be really problematic!

Also as she admits to herself… she needs to protect her secret identity much better…

It’s uncool that the villainess already knows that Jessica is Spider-Woman, but that way we get some nice “secret identity” talk beforehand.

All in all …a good unmasking!

Quite rare stuff!

Not often do you see someone rip open the full-face mask of a masked woman!

Also nice that they talk about it a little… that he wants to see her face and that she says “You won’t get the chance!”.

Even the reader only gets that comment as he is already ripping her mask… a little late.

Would have been cool if there had been one small extra panel with her masked face delivering that line. And a “RIIIIIPPP” text would have been nice as well

I do like that he is curious enough to unmask her, that should be the normal reaction if you fight against a masked woman/man, especially with a full-face mask.

So many villains just don’t care enough

Now, after he exposed her face he knows who she is and can see her (facial) reactions. She isn’t protected by her mask anymore and is more vulnerable now.

*EDIT September 3*: At first she manages to blind him and prevents him actually seeing her exposed face.

But that advantage is lost quickly….

All in all a really good scene!

I guess I should start to check out the new comics more regularly again!

Batgirl rips her own mask! [Masks off! #45]

As I checked some new comics I stumbled upon this one.

I really love this full-face Batgirl mask that Cassandra Cain is wearing.

It’s a modified cowl version where the previous openings have been “closed”.

This version is a perfect disguise and leaves a LOT of opportunities for mask damage

Spoiler here got kidnapped by her own crazy father and sadly that unmasking isn’t shown…. damn!

But luckily Batgirl arrives so we get some nice action.

I love how she rips open her own mask as she rips out the piece over her mouth/lower face!

She is still masked very well so that the crazy guy can’t see enough of her face.

What is quite weird and interesting is that Batgirl’s mask is suddenly complete again as they are leaving!?!

So, what has happened? Did she pull out a reserve mask? And if yes… why?

Or did she stitch the mask back together in a hurry?

Pretty sure that is more of a continuation error here of the artist, but don’t know for sure.

A good little scene as you don’t see many scenes where a masked heroine is damaging her own mask!

Quite a shocker at first that Spoiler gets killed, but conveniently Batgirl has a Lazarus serum.
