It’s certainly not a good year for the female Bats in TV and movies…

First, the Batwoman TV show got canceled after 3 seasons.

And now, more really bad news… the Batgirl movie, which was already filmed…. gets axed by Warner Brothers.

Well, it seems there are little to no chances that it will ever be released on any platform.

And that really sucks big time! Yeah, the costume was just….ok…. but I was VERY curious about seeing Batgirl in her first own movie!

Even IF the movie is bad, it would be much better for me as to have no movie at all.

And it’s hard for me to understand why they wouldn’t release it at all and just accept all the money they invested in the movie.

Now they get NOTHING, and if that’s ok for them….. I don’t get it.

Can’t imagine how furious the actors and all involved are (even though they got their money).

I am really sad about all this…

Hopefully, it will see the light of day …one day….nonetheless.

Yesterday the CW had its “Upfronts” day where they presented the schedule for the upcoming TV seasons.

Stargirl

The 3rd season of Stargirl will debut in the fall, on Wednesdays at 8 PM.

So far it was supposed to be aired in the Summer, but as it is May already I already thought that that might not happen.

Ok, a little more waiting time on this season….

No news on a possible 4th season yet.

Gotham Knights

Yeah, as I mentioned season 1 was ordered…but…. it won’t be shown this year…but in 2023.

Quite a bummer and I don’t get it. The pilot is already filmed and until a fall release they would still have enough time to film more episodes… but for some reason…that won’t happen.

However, is a picture of the cast from the Upfronts event:

Wow, that is really…. lame… as it shows nothing.

Oddly enough Stephanie Brown isn’t even on it. And no costumes, just some young folks in lame clothes.

I hope the next promo material is a LOT more interesting.

Seemingly a teaser was shown at the event, but so far it isn’t available to the public.

Batgirl movie

The original plan was to make a “less expensive” movie to release it to HBO Max directly.

Now there are rumors that it might get a cinema release after the budget was upgraded.

Well, I hope that this movie will be good and that they make enough money with it so that more DC movies with a masked heroine in the lead will be made in the future!

From Batwoman now to Batgirl, to be more precise to the Batgirl movie that will come out later this year!

I posted about the casting of Leslie Grace (point 3) and now the costume got revealed!

Here it is:

Ok, my biggest fear is gone now. They are using a cowl and not an eye mask.

The cowl looks really good but doesn’t seem to have a chin strap unless it’s hidden in the shadows.

So basically she is wearing a helmet

The long red wig(?) looks also really good and her face looks great under the cowl (and without a cowl as well).

Now on to the costume. Ok, I do like leather, but I would have preferred a black costume over this.

Overall I do like the costume. After Catwoman in “The Batman” and the costume disaster in the “Birds of Prey” movie, this is certainly a better one.

I hope Leslie can play the role well and that the script will be good.

And the hardcore comic fans will notice that this costume is very accurate to the one in the comics.

Not a plus point for me as I would have wished they would have chosen the costume from the Arkham video games.

1 – Filming for season 3 of Batwoman started on July 19

I hope that the Covid restrictions are now less of a problem as they affected the filming of action and intimate scenes in season 2.

So far it’s unknown (to the public) how many episodes will be made, of course, I hope for as many episodes as possible

2 – Victoria Cartagena has been cast for the role of Renee Montoya [Batwoman, season 3]

Victoria played the same role in the Gotham TV show and now she returns to the role in the upcoming season 3 of Batwoman.

At IMDB she is listed for 22 episodes in the Gotham TV show, but in 15 of those as “credits only”.

I do hope that her role in the Batwoman show will be a little bigger.

Also, it will be interesting to see how her relationship with Batwoman/Ryan will be. Will she find out that Ryan is Batwoman? Will she work alongside Batwoman? Will they even become a couple?

I predict a sure “yes” to the first two questions. Not so sure about the other one…

So far I haven’t seen much of Victoria….but that will now change very soon.

3 – Leslie Grace will play Batgirl in the upcoming HBO Max Batgirl movie

This movie is in development for the last 400 years (feels like it) and now it finally has an actress for the leading role!

Leslie Grace will take the double role as Barbara Gordon and Batgirl.

On her own Twitter channel, she describes herself as “Singer/Songwriter” and “Sony Music Latin Artist”.

Her IMDB entry is very short as she has little acting experience…so far.

I have never seen her on-screen, but I will check out some of her music videos for sure in the upcoming days.

Looking forward to seeing how she will look and act in the role of Barbara Gordon and Batgirl.

I do hope that she doesn’t get one of the newer purple Batgirl costumes….but I have a bad feeling about it.

I hope the movie will now quickly made progress and will debut in 2023, which should be doable.

Today is the last Day of the San Diego Comic Con.

Until now no “big” news for us who can’t wait for the Batgirl movie.

• Production will start in 2018

Well, no big surprise. More questions remain…

When in 2018? January or December would be a huge difference…

Is the script writing already in progress? Or does that start in 2018?

• Updated list of DC movies

Is that list in a chronological order? If yes, Batgirl could be scheduled for 2020

Because the Shazam movie starts early 2019 and the Batgirl movie is the 4th movie behind that one.

But, let’s see…I hope that Batgirl will come in 2019 to the movie theaters.

And because today is the last day of the Comic Con in San Diego…I hope there will be more news, more BIG news.

Well, don’t know much about these four. But just from the pictures on the site I would like Jane Levy and Margaret Qualley.

For me they would definitely fit in the role.

And as you can see on that site, there are rumours, that they may present the actress for the Batgirl role on the San Diego Comic Con.

And that is only 3 weeks away….. Oh Man!

Hope the rumours are true and that we will know by end of the month who will become that legendary character.

For me that news hit me like a hammer. GREAT! GREAT! GREAT! Since ages I had hoped they would make such a movie…and then I read the news. I couldn’t believe it at first.

Ok, that movie won’t come out this year or next year. Perhaps 2019? But no matter when it will hit the screens…I am SO excited about it!

The last time I was so excited about a future movie was as TDKR was in planning and it was announced that Catwoman would be in it. I read every preview, watched every trailer a dozen times, tried to get as many pictures as possible. And Catwoman only had a small role in that movie. Her suit was great, but her mask was…pretty terrible. She did not have a secret identity at all, nearly everybody knew who was behind the mask. No unmasking action at all .

That was really annoying for me! After all the anticipation I was a little disappointed at first after I left the movie theater.

However, despite all these facts, I love that movie and I love Anne Hathaway as Catwoman.

And now there will be a Batgirl movie

Batgirl was always my favorite heroine. And she will have the main part in that movie!!! I can’t imagine right now, how much more excited I will be when more facts to this movie will be released.

• Who will be under that mask? Who will play this role and will (most certainly) become a legend for me?
• How will the costume look? What about the mask?
• What will the story?
• Which villains will be in it? May be Catwoman? Or other hot villainesses?
• Will they include other female heroine in it? Like Spoiler? Or the Huntress?

This movie has big potential to become my ultimate “hall of fame”-movie. I guess I will get some serious (heart-)problems when the first trailer is released….

It seems like Whedon will take the Barbara Gordon-Batgirl version from the “New 52” Storyline. Great news! I want a serious batgirl movie and not that damn new “helmet”-batgirl version from the new comic run (that sucks btw.!).

Regarding the costume:

Let’s see how this epic movie will develop throughout the next months/years. I can’t wait for more news!
